Honestly, however big Trump's wallet is, it's WAY too goddam expensive for him to actually afford. DHS says the initial costs for such a wall are $21.5 billion (not counting maintenance), and the Senate Democrats say it's more likely to cost $70 billion, with annual maintenance costs being $150 million. No matter how rich he's claimed to be, there's no way in Hell he can pay even the more conservative estimate. And there's no way in Hell defunding Planned Parenthood or food stamps is likely to free up much more money.

When Trump said he'd make Mexico pay for the wall he meant through increased tariffs, obviously not getting them to voluntarily pay for it. I mean, it's easy to argue against increased tariffs to pay for a wall, but I guess even easier to argue against a strawposition.

Also this article is about some Iowa representative that I've never even heard of proposing something. Not Trump anyway.

That's upside down. Tariffs increase the cost of imported goods for US citizens, not the Mexican citizens. We can't impose a tariff on goods sold to Mexico, we can only increase the price. None of that is workable.

It was misleading plain and fucking simple.

"Mexico is going to pay for the wall!  Through... tariffs that the American people pay."  So basically America is going to pay Mexico for Mexico to pay for the fucking useless wall that's going to do shit all.
