Bibles in Hotel Rooms

RE: Bibles in Hotel Rooms
...

over 70% (i'm not sure about the exact number) of the population is Christian in the US...they do not "cater to a specific religion", they cater to their country's most prominent religion. And just like because you have an ash tray does not push smoking onto you, having a Bible around does not push Christianity on you.

And how would you feel if you checked into a hotel room and found crucifixes and pictures of Jesus on the wall?

we arn't talking about Jesuses and crucifixes, just a single book in the nightstand...again, it's a commodity. Not everything is an issue, and the fact that some hotels like to let their clients have a Bible nearby does not mean these hotel owners are Jesus freaks trying to convert their clients.

The reason people don't like the Bible in hotel rooms (or anywhere else) is because it reminds them of their sinful condition and accountability to God at the Judgment. Plain and simple. If they don't want to read it, they can leave it in the drawer.

ROFLOL

Your Bible only reminds me how stupid and nonsensical the entire Christian belief system is. Talking animals? A guy who lost his strength because his hair was cut? People being turned into pillars of salt? A virgin birth? A man who walks on water and heals people with a touch of his hand? A guy who rises up from the dead? All that's missing is space aliens and Bigfoot.

But then, space aliens and Bigfoot are more believable than the tripe contained in the Bible.

And why should I have to see religious propaganda when I check into a hotel room? How would you feel if the hotel had "Jesus is a Myth" pamphlets in the night stand?

If the Bible is that offensive to you, leave it in the drawer and don't look at it.

Same thing. It promotes a particular religion.

I'm not implying that the hotel owners are "Jesus freaks". I'm just saying it's inappropriate to place religious propaganda in a hotel room when you have no idea who may be staying in that room.

Hey, great attitude! So, I should "sleep by the river" if I want to avoid your religious propaganda?

And how would you feel if you checked into a hotel room and there were atheist pamphlets in the night stand?

If there were atheist pamphlets in the nightstand, nothing forces me to read them.

So it would be fine with you if every time you checked into a hotel room there was a copy of "The God Delusion" in the night stand?

What an incredibly sanctimonious and naive thing to say.

People don't like to see bibles in their hotel rooms because everywhere they turn they are getting religion rammed down their throats. When you are on holiday the last thing they want to be reminded of is that there are people constantly banging on at them that they must accept Christ as their saviour or they are going to burn in hell. I mean, what an anticlimax that is!
