What an incredibly sanctimonious and naive thing to say.

People don't like to see bibles in their hotel rooms because everywhere they turn they are getting religion rammed down their throats. When you are on holiday the last thing they want to be reminded of is that there are people constantly banging on at them that they must accept Christ as their saviour or they are going to burn in hell. I mean, what an anticlimax that is!

Easy solution: Turn from sin and receive Christ as Savior and you won't feel this way. Problem solved. See how easy that is?

I can get a smoke-free room at any hotel. Perhaps I should demand a religion-free room? Religion has done far more harm than smoking over the centuries.

Look at what atheism did under Joseph Stalin. Millions of Christians as well as millions of others sent to gulags or killed.

Lighten up people, its a small book in a part of the hotel room I never look in, not even if I stay there for a week. And if you go to a place like Jordan or Oman you will also find a koran in many hotel rooms. Makes no difference to me. Don't like the book? Read something else.

If the proportion of Christians who would react with equanimity when confronted by the Koran or Hitchen’s God is not Great in their hotel rooms is the similar to proportion of Atheists who simply close the drawer on the bible, then I would have less issue with bibles in the hotel rooms. Otherwise I take it as a manifestation of over-Christianization of the society unbecoming of a enlightened society.

And no, Koran in hotel rooms of muslim countries is neither here nor there. The attitudes towards religion in those countries are not a model for western civilizations, which pioneered modern secular enlightenment and scientific thought, to follow.

Are you aware that proselytizing is against the rules here?

What Stalin did has as much connection to atheism as Lawrence Welk has to Punk Rock.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Here's a variation on the game. If you book two rooms in the same hotel, switch the Bibles between each room - the management will never know, and you will secretly have struck a blow for atheism!

Problem there. I don't believe in sin or this christ fellow. I require evidence. So no, not an easy solution. Not unless you can prove what you claim. It's easy if you can blindly believe in anything, then yeah, knock yourself out.
Just not for me thanks. I'll stick with science and reason.

Firstly, atheism is just lack of belief in god. That's it. Stalin acted out of his own interest.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

And you and your ilk will be happy about the diversity of opinion this represent, and not picket, rail, sermonize, or otherwise attempt to get rid of them.

For the umpteenth time ( note to admins: This is where the "no idiot rule" really hurts) try to get it through your thick skull that Stalin killed people because they opposed COMMUNISM not because they were not atheists.

This puts him in a different class than all your heroic crusaders, and pro and anti reformationists, and just plain old jew-haters down through the bloody centuries of your fucking religion.

And, before you say it, Hitler was one of you guys.

My parents always taught me that lying was wrong, especially big, horrible lies and I've always tried to avoid them whenever I can. So, if you think that I'm going to start lying to myself then you are very much mistaken Panic

Your Bible only reminds me how stupid and nonsensical the entire Christian belief system is. Talking animals? A guy who lost his strength because his hair was cut? People being turned into pillars of salt? A virgin birth? A man who walks on water and heals people with a touch of his hand? A guy who rises up from the dead? All that's missing is space aliens and Bigfoot.

But then, space aliens and Bigfoot are more believable than the tripe contained in the Bible.

And why should I have to see religious propaganda when I check into a hotel room? How would you feel if the hotel had "Jesus is a Myth" pamphlets in the night stand?

If the Bible is merely a fairy tale, why is it the ONLY one you hate? Why don't you hate Mother Goose or Grimm's?

Wasn't atheism one of the tenets of Communism? Google Richard Wurmbrand and you will see he was imprisoned and tortured for fourteen years FOR refusing to recant Christianity. He is also on YouTube.
