Another great has died. George A. Romero, creator of the 1968 horror zombie hit, "Night Of The Living Dead" , is dead at 77 after a brief battle with lung cancer.

The man who put zombie movies on the map. For anyone who saw his final trilogy, it proved that his vision only grew stronger with age. A cracking director, even with B-movie budgets and a sad loss to horror film making.

Actually, it was Richard Matheson's 1954
novel, "I Am Legend" which did that. Romero's, "Night Of The Living Dead" was influenced by "I Am Legend".

I remember when the original Dawn of the Dead came out; the theater was recommending that patrons avail themselves of the free barf bags.

Still, the remake was hilarious -- the on-camera interview with the sheriff's deputy when he was describing what to do when approached by a zombie that to "shoot 'em in the head", after which, a zombie approached him, "Like this!", shooting it in the head.
