George A. Romero Dead At 77

RE: George A. Romero Dead At 77
The 1978 Dawn of the Dead was a spectacularly good movie.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Speaking of strange coincidences, another zombie related death. A stunt man for TWD series died a few days ago while filming a stunt that went wrong onset.

Quote:John Bernecker, a stuntman on AMC's "The Walking Dead," has died from injuries suffered on the show's set in Georgia. He was 33.
After the Wednesday afternoon fall, Bernecker was flown to the Atlanta Medical Center, where he died at 6:30 p.m., Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk told The Times on Friday.
Variety reported that Bernecker fell more than 20 feet from a balcony onto a concrete floor, suffering a head injury, and immediately was transported by helicopter to the hospital. An assistant director told police the stuntman missed a safety cushion "just by inches" and tried to stop his fall "by grabbing onto the railing with both hands" right after he began falling, TMZ reported Friday.

Actually, it was Richard Matheson's 1954
novel, "I Am Legend" which did that. Romero's, "Night Of The Living Dead" was influenced by "I Am Legend".

True, except that Matheson's zombies were vampires and smart. They could be repelled by garlic and crosses. They could be killed by driving stakes through their hearts. Since Romero zombies are cannibals and mindless.

If I remember correctly, I believe Matheson got the idea for his future I Am Legend novel when he went to a theatre as a teen and watched Dracula. He wondered what it would be like to be the lone survivor of a worldwide epidemic that wiped out and then resurrected the rest of the human race as vampires. When I was kid I remember going to a neighborhood theatre with my Grandmother and watching "The Last Man On Earth", with Vincent Price. That was the first movie based on Matheson's novel, and still worth watching. I Am Legend became the forerunner to future movies that featured worldwide epidemics which turned people to flesh eating zombies being fought off by small groups of survivors. "Omega Man" with Charlton Heston was another adaptation of "I Am Legend". Will Smith starred in the most recent adaptation bearing the novel's title.

The alternate ending to Smith's I am Legend was pretty cool.

Shame about Romero. The original Night of the Living Dead has an eerie dead quiet to it. No other zombie movie has matched that.

I would have much preferred him turn Land of the Dead into a trilogy instead of that crappy found footage one and that Hatfield/McCoy thing. Just one of my reasons I'd want to explore the multiverse and see what might have been...
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.

Night Of The Living Dead is classic. Even though Romero made some good zombie movies afterward none came close to NOTLD. Two of my other favorites he did were the more recent remakes of Dawn Of The Dead with Ving Rhames and The Crazies with Timothy Olyphant.
