I lost my Soul

And this making-up of answers strongly implies that no actual gods were involved in the creation of various holy books.  One would hope that a deity would provide accurate data rather than dumbing information down so much that it would later be shown to be false.  There may yet be a god-like being out there somewhere, but probably not one that humans have worshipped.

Tolerance?  You don't seem to be very tolerant of nonbelievers.
That's an unfair/biased assessment. I never once made any disparaging remarks to a person's religious beliefs. I've only called out stupid people. there are religious stupid people as well, so to say my intollerance is limited to atheists is incorrect.

Quote:Drich, let me spell this out for you and explain why your approach is counterproductive to your cause:  If you aren't a medical professional in a subspecialty qualified to assess mental capacity, then all you're doing is co-opting medical terminology to sling insults at people because they do not agree with your worldview.
Hey dumb ass IT WAS A FU*KING JOKE My God you people are fascists. you will not allow anyone known to have ever spoken against your position period, have anything to say anything else ever! you just respond automatically with venom and rot no matter what is said.

I told this lady to ball up her emotion in to a little ball, put on jogging pants and eat at a buffet til she felt better. Both you and your boy friend aren't even reading what I have to say. It is not supposed to be good advise, further more there was an implication that I myself handels depression this way. Self deprecating humor to cheer up the op nothing else

Quote:In that context, you are an excellent reason to not become a Christian.
what a sick accross the board intolerant person you are. Even if I am not nor clai to be a dr, my participation in this thread disqualifies my whole faith?!?!? what an extremeist ideology.. The KKK I think is like that. They like you hate everything not affiliated with them as well.

Quote:I don't see a gentle spirit or life in abundance in you --

ROFLOL Did you see a gentle spirit when Jesus chased out the money changers?
Did you see a gentle spirit when Jesus spent an entire chapter calling the pharisees names in the temple???
Did you see subservience in jesus when the disciples argued about who of them would be greatest in the kingdom?
Did you see either quality in Christ when taught/proclaimed the sermon on the mount, the be attitudes or the olivet discourse??? No He demanded people listen He charged ahead with what was very blasphemous material he made no apologies nor did he consider how this would enrage or how these action would change not only history but be the reason for the end of OT judaism.

Maybe, you the atheist have tested this idea of a weak and meek god with weak and meek followers and you have found them to be a lie.. Here's the thing... Maybe that is NOT the God of the bible.

Quote:just yet another self-righteous ninny who thinks he has an inviolable right to act like a preachy and presumptuous turd because he's "saved" and thereby above mortal reproach.
Where did that come from you f-ing moron??? oh that's right from the sterotypes you have assigned my strawman.. You just got don blasting me for not being a christian now you are saying I am too christian? wow that is a broad brush you paint with my dear. which is it? not enough or too much?

Because again All I said do was go eat ice cream till you got sick

Again not a GOD ISSUE Therefore no need to bring up evolution (that is why I asked if you were retarded because this is now the 3rd time in three posts I had to make that distinction)

I Called YOU retarded as a reflection of the diminished mental capacity you are showing to properly discern and engage in a timely and topical conversation.

Self-righteous moron and retarded.

Feeling the love,

Everything you post here is about God, always has been.

The reason I post about evolution, it's apposite. You don't understand or care about science, and that needs to be exposed.

Timely and topical discussion, I have a life, job and family away from here and can only spend so much time. My bad.

I am too polite to bring an amateur psychiatric diagnosis on my interlocutor in this case though.

I don't know your mind and you don't know mine; just words posted on a page.

Atlas, slowing down the course of a disease is treating it.  Using disease-modifying therapy one can prevent new lesions from developing in the brain and spinal cord, preventing disease relapses and improving quality of life.

There is also siponimod, a promising new drug for secondary progressive MS, which was previously untreatable.\

First time I hear about siponimod. I think it's great to have a choice at least;. But slowing the disease or enhancing the current state of the patient, is more of a "half treatment" for me. Don't get me wrong; just picturing life without these medications gives me nightmares.

Quote:You seem to have a nasty case of "scarcity mentality" -- Your post implies that everyone should drop everything and work only on one particular set of socioeconomic problems, doing nothing at all about other problems even though it's comparatively easier to deal effectively with those other problems and improve people's quality of life by doing so.

Not at all !
When humans meet good conditions; they become lazy. Look at the modern human, and the ancient one. One is wasting their time in front of videogames, and the other is hunting for his family, facing all kinds of dangers in the forest next door.

I'm not a mental push up, but I think humanity would build amazing things if they kept up to that special standard.

The scientific revolution was pushed forward through threats of hunger and war. Nowadays, speaking about that itself labels one as a failed social product, I bet ancients would do hell lots of a better job with the stuff we have today.

Quote:I know my own strengths and weaknesses and interests.  I am not a politician or a lawyer or a media personality or a billionaire.  I am not going to toss my hard-earned money into some black hole of lobbying and focus groups and "feed the starving children" hype that might provide some small amount of help to some far-flung corner of the globe -- if local warlords don't hijack the supply trucks, that is.  I would much rather invest that money in medical research (including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, which gets a donation from me every year).

And you're wise to do so. Many of the wealthy cartels that eat our societies hide behind "Churches, mosques and charity centers".
Not to clear the medical field's name totally, but it's so better to invest in the treatment of others,

Thank you; Astreja.

I sometimes think who would pay for things like the MS societies around, believe me that money isn't wasted because any person with MS will usually spend hours reading an article here or about an event there. It's such a great thing you're doing.Thank you.

Quote:While donating to research projects, I can also go to the store and purchase nice new clothing and undergarments to donate to local homeless people.  At the same time I can give food to a food bank, pet food and cat litter to an animal shelter, and money to a clinic to supply birth control for women who want it but can't afford it.  I don't have to choose just one.

Wanting to see a whole globe of people who do what you do, is not too much if you think about it.
I consider it a duty to love doing good to humans. I just believe in "what goes around always come back around". So I think if everybody joined hands, and gave the tiniest of things; earth would change drastically.

Instead of exchanging paranoia and death, enhancing the lives of others is better.

You're right: no question about that;while some care about the quality, others care about science...etc.
But the scale is broken if you observe earth.

Quote: Interested in making the world a better place, Atlas?  Don't treat it as an all-or-nothing deal; just do something.  Anything.  It's better and easier to relieve suffering when and how you can, rather than waiting for utopia to just pop out of nowhere or waiting for a god to exact justice after we're dead.

I do try. Even the smallest things.
I try to not hurt people. And also ask about those forgotten because of wars and even victims of bullying.

Even teach who can't have the right education to excel in programming. It's what I do best.

Quote:    So the fuck what? Hate to burst your bubble buddy, but there is no "forever" so there still is no medicine that will cure death, we all die from something eventually. So while some medicines/ operations can cure, and while the ones you talk about now don't currently cure, medical research in can lead to a cure in the future. But  even with finding cures, there will never be a cure for death regardless, so yea, ultimately everything medical can still only delay death, not prevent it. And what real human doctors do is still far more than a fictional sky hero will ever do.

Again Atlass, if someone quoting the bible and pointing to medicine wont convince you you need to be a Christian, why should anyone here reading this be convinced when you try it?

No, it's not about death, it's about spending all your life on bumpy road, with sharp needles under your butt. It hurts.
The cure can take time, but legalizing medicinal marijuana for example, is a big help.

Maybe God helped them, eventually he gave humans brains.

Yes, investigation into better treatments could be done and should be done. Its called science, not religion. Your god should want its creation to understand its "universe" they were brought into. To better survive, wisely.

That is why I dont believe in gods. It is a bullshit created by those that seek power to themselves by being prophets of piss and shit. If you want to postulate on the unknown, bring us a way to find if what spews out of your mind can be methadologically experienced.

Governments here a not even trying. While some countries have limited treatment options for limited number of sicknesses for a limited number of audience, some countries don't even have the luxury of things like an effective health service.

All I'm saying is that so many governments should be ashamed from the amount of spending on things like the military compared to medicine.
I'm sure that if more spending was put in the research, many things will get so much better, many lives will change. So it's a very big thing.

Peace is rare throughout history. We should use it well.

You condition is based off of retardia.. a complex know for it's retardation. often happens when mothers smoke, drink and party with many men durning pregnancy, it could also be from a less evolved genepool or a family tree that single branches for a generation or two.. no matter how one get's retardia it is treatable, but only if the subject remains calm, keep a little baggy of cheerios on them in case of low blood sugar, and they stay away from subjects that do not center around the use of pot... Here's you problem! you just need to smoke some more pot.

But I won't do it just because members of a locally popular religious sect have stories to tell.

That didn't happen though did it? The Roman's love of collecting taxes was seconded only by their love of killing people. You fuck with the money changers and your countdown to the beyond will be in single seconds. The temple guards would have killed him on the spot.

You can't be a Christian and commit the unforgiveable sin. The unforgiveable sin is to reject the Holy Spirit's call to come to Christ and become a Christian. You are putting the cart before the horse, that's a good way to get nowhere. Really no one knows, yet I just explained it to you and I've seen other Christians give the same explanation.  No to the bold above, which I made bold. This guy has no idea who God is or what God offers, it's as obvious as the nose on your face.

You seem to be confused about who thinks what is an unforgivable sin. I didn't ask you to explain it to ME.
But gotcha, this guy isn't worthy of your advice. He can go to hell for all you care. Not that he's even telling the truth, it's just another Christian cut-and-paste sob story.
