I like you already. Welcome.
We get plenty of interesting folks around here and there are plenty of interesting things to chat about so take your time and look around.

Welcome to the board,

I am assuming this is supposed to be me even though it is not an accurate representation of what I said. I said in my introduction that I was a Science Teacher, I now work as a Scientist for the US Government. Why did you use the word "claim" when applying to my job but not when applying to your's? You "claim" to be a Geologist right? Let's be fair and civil here.

It's really very simple, friend. Anyone who claims to be a scientist, regardless of who they work for, and yet cannot get even the most fundamental aspects of science right, lacks credibility. I can be civil towards you as an individual, but there is no reason to suppose that I must be civil with regard to any extraordinary claims. It falls upon the person making those claims to back them up. And from what I've read so far, you've done a remarkably poor job of backing up your claim to have been a science teacher, much less a government scientist. By the way, in what discipline, if I may ask, are you allegedly working as a government scientist? And if you are working for the government, why are you wasting taxpayer money posting on this forum during working hours?

Well, Min, it looks like you were right in the end.
He probably got his job when the Bush Administration was still in power.

Oh no, you are going to take over this guy's introduction thread? That's not very nice. I think I have backed my Scientific Knowledge up quite well. I am quite frankly skeptical of your Scientific Education- let me guess High School diploma? It can't be more than that. I work as an Environmental Scientist for the Department of Ag. I don't post while at work (don't even have access to this site), so you don't have to worry about me wasting your precious tax dollars. Take that beef out with those running congress.

Already pointed out that this was a baseless assertioin, now you are starting to repeat your same baseless assertions? I actually was hired under Obama. Blame him lol.

You know I don't think I have ever seen you even attempt to form an argument. I am going to start calling you "The Assertion" lol. Are you just not into logic or science? Are you scared of what other's might think? What's the reason? I mean these other guys at least try to formulate basic arguments and back up their viewpoints, you have yet to do that. Basic logic is pretty easy, I'd even help you out sometime if you wanted to learn it- anything to improve our interactions.

From what I've read of his introduction and reasons for being here, I'm absolutely positive he won't mind one bit.

Welcome to the forums by the way orogenicman Smile

So, if I need soil samples analyzed for herbicides and pesticides, I know who to call. Good to know. If I want rock samples tested via radioisotopic methods, I think I'll do that myself. You'll probably screw those up.

I was an environmental consultant working for companies such as Chevron and Marathon for 20 years before I became disabled. During that time, I remained active as a field geologist, conducting geologic and karst surverys, collecting minerals and fossils, and am published in the Journal of Paleontology.

As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else!
