Exactly. And we are far more powerful than we think. If there is a creator out there that has given us such powers, the ability to create and destroy, then we need to be responsible on how we use it. We have the ability to change the world for the better or worse. Its up to us. The direction of this planet is our responsibility, its our home. You don't need to constantly depend on some superhero to fix everything for you. Even if one exists. I still disagree. There are too many ways in which we have zero power. Especially children. Look... I don't believe a god exists anyway, so it's easy for me to just accept that we won't agree on this.

Zero power??? Oh, come on. You're selling yourself short. :p
I personally don't care whether god exist or not. Now, stop interrupting me, i'm trying to watch a movie.

Sorry CL, you're a great gal but I connected what you described about your god as much as I can connect with MK!
Pretty sure that goes for the rest of us... Just a lot of word salad.
Technically it's not really your fault. How can you or anybody possibly describe God accurately when everybody has their own interpretation of what he is, where he is, what form he takes, etc. Ask a million people, get a million different answers. God has only ever been a personal god and thus can only be described on a personal level.
Which is why he has no actual objective existence.
Makes perfect sense to me. 
No God, No fear.

I'd not like to pick any particular god to be one which I might be happy to know existed.
If there really is a god, I'd be happy to know it.
After I'd discovered its reality, then I could investigate, (I hope), to discover the nature of that god, and decide if I liked it or not.
I have no current reason to think that there is a god, nor that I'll discover in the future that there is one.
There are no atheists in terrorist training camps.

Absolutely, I'd be thrilled.
If we could discover for sure that there was a God, it would mean our science had advanced right up to the limits of reality itself. We could start testing God to see how he'd behave. Maybe we could get him to tell people not to re-elect Trump.

My apologies if I'm repeating criticisms that have already been made, but I just couldn't bring myself to wade through all 9 pages of responses.
In short, the options just don't match the question. Therefore the data won't address the fundamental question, which means this poll is kinda useless. On it's face, it appears to be a yes/no question. There's a disconnect between the thread title and what is actually in the OP.
I'm not sure what to make of it, to be honest.
My best reponse to the question in the thread title is: "It depends". My being an atheist is not an ego thing.

Which probably explains why when they do brain scans of people who talk about their god, the part of their brain associated with 'self', like when they're talking about or describing themselves, is what is activated. It's like they all subconsciously realize it's not a separate entity from themselves, because it's invented by them in their own minds and in their own image. That's inescapable. Pretty damning that there's no external reality to any god concept whatsoever.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
