Franklin Township Ohio To Reinstall Confederate Monument

Ohio putting up a confederate monument just fucking proves it's about racism not heritage.

This reminded me of a friend in Ohio who told me about people in her area who display Confederate flags. She dryly noted that the Confederacy (traitors) lost the war and... Ohio wasn't even in the Confederacy.

You're up in the North Eastern corner of the State. I'm in the central part of the State, actually a Southwestern suburb of Columbus. But I grew up on Columbus' South side, though.

About the only thing good about living here is you can get to Cleveland in an hour or so. My bro worked in Mentor for a while. Which I think is kind of a suburb of Cleveland.
Well, apparently a lot of people come here for our D-day reenactment, as you can't get from one end of the town to another when they do that.

The D-Day reenactment would be nice to see. I did some roof work up around your area some years back. The accent seems to change a bit from the Southern and Central part of the State to the Northern part. Sounds close to a Michigan like accent in Northern Ohio. But I really enjoyed it up that way.

So yeah, the KKK was a southern phenomenon with deep roots in the Democratic party back in the day. Then came Johnson's support for the Civil Rights Acts. Nixon got the ball rolling and Reagan later brought it home. The southern racists, after their flirtation with Wallace in '68, started drifting toward the GOP. By 1980, it was a done deal.
