Question about ouija boards after strange experience

Question about ouija boards after strange experience
Ok, so usually I completely reject the idea of ouija boards being anything, but I had a question based on an experience that I had.

My parents, myself and my sister made our own ouija board with cardboard, and we drew an arrow on a plate and moved the plate around (all of us)

we began asking questions like "What is your name?" and we got an answer that the name of the so called "spirit" we were talking to was Carvel.

We asked Carvel where he was from, and he said Qatar. We were laughing about this. However, at one point, my mom kind of jokingly asked, if I will ever get married. We received the answer yes. Then we asked where would my future wife be from, and we got Sweden as an answer. Then we asked about the name, and got the answer "Hilvy". At this point, we are laughing, as none of us had ever heard of that name before. We thought it wasn't a real name. Today I was bored and I just typed down "Hilvy" in google, and the first thing that came up was: "Swedish female name". I am surprised. I had no idea that the name existed, let alone that it was Swedish. What do you think happened here?

I'd suggest talking to your sister, or whoever was responsible for actually moving that arrow-piece.

As a Dungeons and Dragons nerd, I've made a fair number of 'fake' fantasy names I had personally never heard before turn out to be real names. Coincidence is the currency of woo.

It's more woo man! You'll see it everywhere from everyone, including people and cardboard, but never the culprits themselves for one simple reason...
I think you know what that reason is.

Like our man Jesus on toast!
You'd think if he existed and had the magic power to do that, he could have saved one little child from hunger for one day using less magic... go figure...

Do this. Have a friend act as an independent observer.

1) The observer asks the questions, say ~ten? After each question he writes down the answers.
2) The observer then blindfolds all four participants and asks the same ten questions.
3) Compare answers from set 1, and set 2.
4) Conclude ouija is complete bollocks.
5) Get a fucking life.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

You might have an unquenchable need for woo in your life? Why fight it? Every morning ask the ouija board what you should do that day and then follow its mandates to the letter. (They all must die.)

Apparently no one can debunk anything for another, at least not so long as that other is motivated by bunk.

Good luck finding a Hilvy to marry you!
