You can do both: offer words of solidarity (such as thoughts/prayers) and do what you can to help.

But that's the problem, isn't it? The people praying are blindly and foolishly thinking they are actually helping. 

Um actually it does, but not for the reason believers want to think.

You do calm yourself and you can boost your immune system by thinking about things you find positive. But the same can be said about a child thinking about getting presents at Christmas, it would not matter to the child if it really was the parent giving it to them. Adults with god beliefs are merely projecting their own desires in the form of non existent beings.

The ancient Egyptians were successful for over 3,000 years centering their dynasty over completely false claims. I am sure Ra and Osiris and Horus and Isis belief made them feel good too.

Lets not be unfair to her. Muslim prayer, Buddhist prayer, Jewish prayer, Hindu prayer, Native American Prayer, nobody is actually talking to a spirit or god world, they are merely projecting their own qualities in the form of non existent things.

Humans simply don't have the critical thinking skills as kids when their parents sell them their respective religions.

Just like a kid will believe in Santa before they can start questioning. Nobody wants to think their parents are bad or are lying to them. No, most parents are not bad but get sold what their parents sold them, and what their parents sold them ect ect ect back thousands of years.

Praying isn't physically helping those who were traumatized in Vegas. That  was my point. That's Min's point, too.

I'm surprised the Christians who come here don't go on more about it themselves.

Aside from CL and the other Catholics (being generous here) all our other Christians here come from a variety of schismatic sects of Jesusism.

Yep, me too, and somehow the theists takes that as we want to oppress them.

Prayer is legal and nobody is trying to stop it, but it is really hollow and cliche when events repeat and nothing changes.
