Churches in Germany are closing because of sex. Priests don't want to carry the cross of blue balls for Christ anymore.

But even if Catholic officials consider budging in certain situations, that’s a rule that’s not about to change.

"The Church was a thousand years old before it definitively took a stand in favor of celibacy in the twelfth century at the Second Lateran Council held in 1139, when a rule was approved forbidding priests to marry. In 1563, the Council of Trent reaffirmed the tradition of celibacy."

And the altar of the church was immediately burned by the archbishop who also consecrated a new altar, all in 48 hours.
So catholic church can be swift when they want to.
In other words: if priests rape a child on the altar, church doesn't do anything unless they are really pressed by the community and put the priest in some other community, but if a priest has a consensual sex with adults he is immediately arrested.
