I really hate it when people say that.

I'm never going to have children, I made that decision long ago, and one of the main reasons for that is there's already too fucking many people! And no one seems to be doing anything about it. In fact, in England, our benefit system is so unbelievably skewed towards people with kids that it's actually encouraging it. It's a lifestyle choice, instead of getting a job, you have a kid, and then the government just pays for you and your kid. I don't mind a bit of state support, but the amount they get, spread among loads of different benefits makes me sick. It also encourages putting no thought at all I to having kids because you know the government will pick up the tab.

I really want to tear a politician's ear off about the benefit issue, it makes me angry. Oh yeah, and they keep coming up with even more ways to give money to them. Fathers going to get more paid maternity leave. Why? Having a kid is a choice. I can't work and have to bite and claw and beg to get what little benefits I can.

The Catholic church has PLENTY of "saints" that would be described as "madmen" by any other organization. The distressing thing is this doesn't even make me raise my eyebrows in surprise anymore.
