C'mon guys... it should not be this hard to make a decision.

Quote:Hundreds abused by 50 clergy over 40 years but federal prosecutors undecided on charges
Quote:Federal prosecutors aren’t yet certain if they’ll be filing racketeering charges against a Roman Catholic diocese after a grand jury found evidence that two former bishops assisted in the cover-up of sexual abuse to hundreds of children by more than 50 clergy over a 40-year period.
Quote:Unfortunately, the statute of limitations has long since passed on many of these criminal acts and as such no prosecution can be done, however, civil RICO statute has no time limit.

The goddam Pope is making AF redundant again, damn his little heretical heart:
But in selectively citing his predecessors and emphasizing his own teachings, Francis makes clear that he wants nothing short of a revolution in the way priests accompany Catholics, saying the church must no longer sit in judgment and "throw stones" against those who fail to live up to the Gospel's ideals of marriage and family life.
Some of those 'selectively' cited predecessors might have condemned this pope to burning at the stake, and that only after considerable and excruciating physical torture. I'm also sure the pope has omitted any kind of apology for prior married folks that didn't live up to God's eternal and unchanging holy ordinances and were condemned, harassed, bothered, and excommunicated for not living up to the prior edicts, rules, strictures, and decrees.
Here's the rest of the article:

Cardinal Raymond Burke blames women for church’s problems
According to Cardinal Raymond Burke, since the 1960’s women have “feminized” the church and discouraged “manly” men from participating in clerical life.
Serving mass is a “manly” job argues the Irish American Cardinal, and so the participation of women and girls in the daily life of the church has had a chilling effect that has led to a drop in morale and priestly vocations.
"Young boys don't want to do things with girls. It's just natural," "If we are not training young men as altar boys, giving them an experience of serving God in the liturgy, we should not be surprised that vocations have fallen dramatically," he said.
“Apart from the priest, the sanctuary has become full of women. The activities in the parish and even the liturgy have been influenced by women and have become so feminine in many places that men do not want to get involved."

You know in his demented way he might be right, because being a Catholic priest is being married to your loneliness and if you learn to share your life with girls then it will be harder to accept loneliness. Plus Catholic priesthood is a great sanctuary for misogynists. There are some guys that were abandoned by their mothers at an early age and never forgave them which then transgressed into being cynical toward all women. Let's say you're a guy and your mother abandoned you and you're studying, let's say, economy you'll never be able to work as an economist if you grew up in Catholic surrounding that bashes science and therefore psychiatry. No, you'll suddenly feel called by God to live your life far from those "treacherous beings". I mean I guess it's better then being a serial killer, but you also must understand that Catholic priest or nun is almost as same thing as suicide bomber. They both commit suicides for their religion: bombers suicide of their body while priests and nuns commit genetic suicide.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Former Catholic priest sentenced to 29 years in jail for sexual crimes against children
John Joseph Farrell, 62, was sentenced in Sydney district court on Monday for 62 historical sexual crimes against children.
Although some of Farrell’s crimes appeared at first glance to be spontaneous or opportunistic, they were in reality a result of the offender’s long-term grooming of the victims and the cultivation of their parents, the judge said.
