Quote:Police reopen sex abuse investigation of former Wyoming bishop

Quote:A retired Wyoming bishop has become the latest prelate embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal that is rapidly consuming the Catholic Church across the globe.

The Cheyenne Police department said it has reopened an investigation into sex abuse allegations against an unnamed church official, stemming from his time in the diocese from the 1970s through the 1990s.

A local lawyer has requested that the Minnesota state governor initiate grand jury proceedings similar to those instigated in PA. The governor's office is reviewing the matter to determine whether the governor's office has any authority in the matter.

Why? Because the offenders are the minions of a sovereign state? I hope that isn't what's holding people back.

Is should be done in every state and catholics should be the ones demanding it. I'm seeing very little outrage from the catholic masses.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

It's just like police defenders.  "It's just a few" comes the cry.... ignoring the others who know and say nothing or lie to back up their cop buddies.

They simply refuse to believe that the institution could be terminally corrupt!

"How is being married a talisman for not having child molesters in the clergy?" IT AIN'T. Protestants molest as well.

I'm not saying it will prevent all instances of molestation. Yes, Protestants molest too, but not nearly as much... which raises the question: Why? What's different about Protestants?

That's all I'm sayin'.

Not exactly true. The reason the protestants don't seem to be molesting as much is because they haven't been found out, yet. If you look at the CoE in recent years, the authorities have begun to unearth child abuse and child killing atrocities on the same lines and scales as was found out in the rcc starting twenty to thirty years ago. They had their own mother and baby homes (where the good looking babies were sold off and the bad looking or cranky ones let die and thrown in a septic tank), their own magdalene launderies and their own mass rapists, but the authorities are only now beginning to pull back the veil of secrecy.

You know the only thing keeping the polite fiction of the vatican being a "sovereign state" is a treaty made in 1929 with a dictator who, after being killed by being hung by his ankles and machine gunned to death, had every other treaty he signed annulled.

Maybe we should do the same with the Lateran treaty and put the church back under the heel of the Italian state.

This story is 11 years old.... and it sounds like it was a serious issue even then.

https://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/16/us/16protestant.html

Quote: Data Shed Light on Child Sexual Abuse by Protestant Clergy

Quote:The three companies that insure a majority of Protestant churches say they typically receive upward of 260 reports a year of children younger than 18 being sexually abused by members of the clergy, church staff members, volunteers or congregants.

The figures released to The Associated Press offer a glimpse into what has long been a difficult phenomenon to detail: the frequency of sexual abuse in Protestant congregations.

That jesus loves to wave his dick around, huh?

Maybe Minnesota will find child sexual abuse to be covered by the 1st Amendment guaranty of religious freedom and declare it a de facto Catholic sacrament . . . .

Protestants get a pass on adultery, Catholics get a pass for inseminating children's butt holes.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
