It doesn't help that one of the latest popes was a Pole

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Maybe if the church in Poland weren't so happy to get in bed with the Piss party they'd be holding up better.

Oh who am I kidding? The rcc always gets into bed with nazis.

‘Insensitive’: pet owners react to pope’s remarks on animals and children

Pope Francis stated that not having children is “selfish and diminishes us” and that people are replacing them with cats and dogs.

Pet owners have reacted angrily to the comments, made during a general audience at the Vatican. They argue that animals have a lower environmental footprint than children, enable them to lead a life that is different but equally rewarding, and compensate for financial or biological difficulties in having children, rather than directly replacing them.

On social media, people pointed out that the pope himself chose not to have children and said there was hypocrisy in such comments, coming from an institution that has grappled with a legacy of child sexual abuse.

Well, ya know, those pets aren't going to grow up and start tithing.

Pope warns about dangers of 'cancel culture'

As a head of an organization that committed countless atrocities over the decades, he should be worried about the cancel culture.

RE: Damned Catholics
Is Catholicism in Latin America set to become a minority faith?

Latin America for centuries has been a bastion for the Catholic church, accounting until recently for more than 40 percent of the global Catholic population. Yet the Vatican's hold over the continent is slowly and inexorably sliding.

Up until the 1960s, data indicates that 90 percent of Latin Americans identified as Catholics. However, by 2014 only 69 percent identified as Catholics, and the trend is downwards.

According to studies carried out by Latinobarometro, a local polling company that carries annual surveys across Latin America, by 2017, the number of those identifying as Catholic had dropped to 59 percent. And those numbers may already be out of date, painting a picture of a region that is set to become minority Catholic if it's not already.

The trend, however, amongst different countries is not equally even.

In places like Chile, trust in the Catholic Church has dropped from 72 percent in 1995 to 31 percent in 2020.

According to Latinobarometro, Chile is one of the most agnostic countries in the world, at 35 percent, and now around 45 percent of the population identifies as Catholic compared to 70 percent 15 years ago.

At the beginning of the 20th century, El Salvador was almost 100 percent Catholic, today, it teeters on half of the population.

While the Catholic church has been split down the middle between reformists and conservatives over the future direction of the church and debates concerning female priestesses and whether male priests should remain celibate - Evangelical Christians have been on the march.

These Evangelical churches have also been keen to showcase and promote materialism as a sign of God's love, provided they contribute handsomely to their respective churches.

The wealth these pastors have garnered from running their churches runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars. It has also become a divine sign of God's favour when some of the Evangelical pastors have bought private jets.

Miami Catholic Priest Fathered Child With Woman

Monsignor Chanel Jeanty discovered in December that he'd fathered the child from a relationship that ended over a year ago, the archdiocese said in a statement.

"Monsignor Jeanty has already sought God's forgiveness, and he is asking for the forgiveness of his parishoners, who will be disappointed when they learn of his lapse," the archdiocese's statement read. "Monsignor Jeanty must face his parishoners and seek to regain their trust, as he continues to serve, and at the same time attends to his responsibilities to the child."

Mississippi mayor withholds library funds unless LGBTQ+ books are purged

Mayor Gene McGee, who recently withheld a $110,000 payment to the Madison County Library System — roughly 5% of its yearly budget. When the library system’s director Tonja Johnson inquired about the money, she was told that McGee wouldn’t release it unless the system purged its shelves of all “homosexual materials.”

“He explained his opposition to what he called ‘homosexual materials’ in the library, that it went against his Christian beliefs, and that he would not release the money as the long as the materials were there,” the library director said.

The director then explained to the mayor that the library system, as a public entity, was not a religious institution. “I explained that we are a public library and we serve the entire community. I told him our collection reflects the diversity of our community,” Johnson said.

Apparently, the mayor was unmoved. “He told me that the library can serve whoever we wanted, but that he only serves the great Lord above,” she finished.

When I worked for a while at a big Baptist church in Dallas, I noticed how hard they worked to outreach to the Latin population here. They supported churches in areas that mostly served Mexican and Central American people.

I had to shake my head watching the ultra-wealthy, mostly oil money rich, people of Dallas feel good about how many Latin men the church employed. I suppose they didn't see the similarity to a company store.

Another woman tortured and killed, their Lord must be pleased

Quote:Polish state has ‘blood on its hands’ after death of woman refused an abortion

The family of a Polish woman who died on Tuesday after doctors refused to perform an abortion when the foetus’s heart stopped beating have accused the government of having “blood on their hands”.

The woman, identified only as Agnieszka T, was said to have been in the first trimester of a twin pregnancy when she was admitted to the Blessed Virgin Mary hospital in Częstochowa on 21 December. Her death comes a year after Poland introduced one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe.

The first foetus died in the womb on 23 December, but doctors refused to remove it, quoting the current abortion legislation, and Agnieszka’s family claim “her state quickly deteriorated”. The hospital waited until the heartbeat of the second twin also stopped a week later, and then waited a further two days before terminating the pregnancy on 31 December.

Agnieszka died on 25 January after weeks of deteriorating health. Her family suspect that she died as a result of septic shock, but the hospital did not identify the cause of her death in statement issued on Wednesday.

Her death follows that of a woman known as Izabela last September, who died after being denied medical intervention when her waters broke in the 22nd week of her pregnancy. Her family claim the 30-year-old was denied an abortion or caesarean section and that the hospital cited the country’s abortion laws. An investigation found “medical malpractice” led to Izabela’s death and the hospital was fined.
