Priest slammed for destroying child’s ‘satanic’ Halloween pumpkin decorations

Halloween is just around the corner but the global tradition didn’t sit well with Father Jaromir Smejkal who believes it is a “satanic feast”.

Father Smejkal, from Kurdejov, a village in the Czech Republic, spotted a display of carved out pumpkins near his church and stamped all over them until they were entirely destroyed.

The children behind the carvings were devastated to discover their ruined inventions, and some were reportedly in tears.

They got to work carving new pumpkins and left them in the park, only for it to happen again the next night. The next day, the pumpkins were found to have once again been trashed.

The priest is part of the Roman Catholic Church of St John the Baptist, who sees Halloween as anathema to his religion.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Aww, Bergoglio pretends that he doesn't understand that religion is a business.

Quote:Pope calls on Church to not become a “supermarket of salvation”

“Either the Church is the faithful people of God on a journey, holy and sinful, or it ends up being a business of varied services,” Pope Francis said, deploring how certain parishes have “price lists” for sacraments. “When pastoral agents take this second path, the Church becomes the supermarket of salvation and the priests mere employees of a multinational.”

Here is a Conspiracy theory, or should I say lies, spread by the Catholic Church

Quote:We fact-checked residential school denialists and debunked their ‘mass grave hoax’ theory

Recently a politician from a village in Prince Edward Island displayed an offensive sign on his property in which he proclaimed there is a “mass grave hoax” regarding the former Indian Residential Schools in Canada. Although many have called for him to resign, he is just one of many people who subscribe to this false theory.

A hoax is an act intended to trick people into believing something that isn’t true. Commentary that a “hoax” exists began circulating in 2021 around the time of public announcements from First Nations across the country that — through the use of ground penetrating radar and other means — the remains of Indigenous children are suspected to be in unmarked graves at or near some former residential schools.

Commentators circulating allegations of a “hoax” contend journalists have misrepresented news of the potential unmarked graves, circulating sensational, attention-grabbing headlines and using the term “mass grave” to do so. They also contend some First Nations, activists or politicians used this language for political gain — to shock and guilt Canadians into caring about Indigenous Peoples and reconciliation.

Many people — in Canada and internationally, fuelled partly by misinformation from the far-right — are accepting and promoting the “mass grave hoax” narrative and casting doubt on the searches for missing children and unmarked burials being undertaken by First Nations across Canada.

Countering harmful misinformation

In the two years since, a number of commentators, priests and politicians, including the P.E.I councillor with his sign, have downplayed the harms of residential schooling — or questioned the validity, gravity and significance of the the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation’s announcement.

One National Post commentator wrote that the account of a “mass grave” was reported “almost universally” adding that this narrative, and subsequent “discoveries” preceded a descent into “shame, guilt and rage …”

Despite the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation’s announcement never mentioning a “mass grave,” and Chief Rosanne Casimir saying in a news conference, “this is not a mass grave, but rather unmarked burial sites that are, to our knowledge, also undocumented,” some have even wrongly suggested the First Nation “announced the discovery of a mass grave” and this was a “fake news story.”

In response, the independent special interlocutor for missing children and unmarked graves and burial sites associated with Indian Residential Schools has amplified calls for Canadians to take responsibility for countering such harmful misinformation.

Major survey finds ‘conservative’ and ‘orthodox’ priests on the rise

The new analysis of a study that claims to be the largest national survey of Catholic priests conducted in more than 50 years has found, among other things, that priests describing themselves as “progressive” are practically going “extinct” among U.S. seminary graduates, with the vast majority of young ordinands describing themselves as conservative and orthodox.

“I think many of them are reacting to the wreckage of secular materialism, and many of them have seen the effect of that materialism, that secularism, on their peers. They’ve seen people trapped in sin, and they want to make a difference in the world. They want to be people who are helping to bring light and joy and hope back into a world that seems to have lost them.”

Sibley said that most of the young men are already “on the conservative side” when they enter seminary, with many having been formed by conservative online Catholic personalities. He said in his experience, “there is nobody” currently studying in his seminary who would describe himself as “progressive.”

Catholic charity chief in Poland quits church, calling it “mafia sheltering criminals”

Sebastian Wiśniewski has worked for Caritas in Białystok, one of Poland’s largest cities, since 2007 and became its deputy director in 2019.

He was also motivated to quit by “various embezzlements, with Mr. Rydzyk in the main role” – a reference to Tadeusz Rydzyk, a priest closely allied to the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party and whose various businesses and foundations have benefited from generous state grants.

“I cannot be a member of an organisation that, to some extent, shelters criminals,” declared Wiśniewski. In a separate interview with the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper, he went even further, describing the church as a “mafia corporation that abuses the sign of the cross”.

Wiśniewski said that his accusations were based on his own personal experience within Caritas, where he has witnessed corruption and greed. He claimed that the charity took “joy from natural disasters and other events that improve the Caritas budget through financial proceeds from fundraising”.

He said that he also observed how the “clergy [live] comfortable lives at the expense of naive believers”, with “priests accumulating wealth contrary to what the Bible, especially the New Testament, teaches”.

That led him to “the realisation that this church is not a path to holiness, but a corporation – at its worst – taking care of its own capital”. He also commented on how the church “hides deviants [i.e. those guilty of sex abuse] within parishes or sends them to other dioceses”.

The Catholic church in Poland has faced a number of controversies in recent years, in particular over revelations of sex abuse by clergy and negligence in dealing with it by bishops. It has also been criticised over its political engagement, especially with regard to the introduction of a near-total ban on abortion.

Recent data from the church itself has shown a significant decline in the proportion of Catholics attending church, while the latest census also found a big drop in the proportion of Poles identifying as Catholics. The church has also confirmed that there has been a growing number of people submitting acts of apostasy.

That trend has been particularly pronounced among young people, only 25% of whom say they now practice religion regularly, down from 70% in the early 1990s.

Open phobia against Freemasons.

Vatican confirms ban on Catholics becoming Freemasons

The Vatican has confirmed a ban on Catholics becoming Freemasons, a centuries-old secretive society that the Catholic Church has long viewed with hostility and has an estimated global membership of up to six million.

"Active membership in Freemasonry by a member of the faithful is prohibited, because of the irreconcilability between Catholic doctrine and Freemasonry," the Vatican's doctrinal office said in a letter published by Vatican media on Wednesday.

The department, known as the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith, issued its opinion, dated Nov. 13 and countersigned by Pope Francis, in response to a bishop from the Philippines alarmed by the growing number of Freemasons in his country.
