Minneapolis-St. Paul Archbishop John Nienstedt, who has publicly blamed the Devil for same-sex marriage, is under investigation for allegedly sexually harassing priests and other men, the Catholic magazine Commonweal reported on Tuesday.

A former attorney for Nienstedt, Jennifer Haselberger, told Commonweal that she had spoken to members of the firm, and that the allegations also include claims that Nienstedt has retaliated against people who “refused his advances” or raised questions about his alleged behavior both during his service as a priest in the Archdiocese in Detroit and his current position..

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Attorneys for nearly 150 people who claim sexual abuse by Roman Catholic priests made nearly 10,000 pages of previously sealed internal church documents public Sunday, revealing at least one previously unknown decades-old case in which a priest under police investigation was allowed to leave the U.S. after the Diocese of San Diego intervened.

After a three-year legal battle over the Diocese of San Diego's internal records, a retired San Diego Superior Court judge ruled late Friday that they could be made public. The records are from the personnel files of 48 priests who were either credibly accused or convicted of sexual abuse or were named in a civil lawsuit.

Did they get sentenced? If so, it is a just decision. Not because they are priests individually, but because they are child molesters.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —An arbitrator has awarded more than $1 million to a group of victims in the Kansas City priest abuse sex scandal.

Six years ago, 47 victims settled with the diocese for $10 million and promised that the church would clean up its act in the future. Four years ago, the Shawn Ratigan child pornography scandal hit.

The arbitrator ruled that the diocese didn't live up to its promises not to hide future sex abuse problems with clergy members and promptly report trouble to authorities.

The records show that church officials waiting a year before alerting investigators.

Louisiana court: Priest should have reported child’s sex abuse claim made in confession

The victim claimed that she told Bayhi about the abuse on three separate occasions. She said that the accused church member had told her he “wanted to make love to her,” but instead of reporting the abuse, Bayhi allegedly told her to handle the problem herself because “too many people would be hurt” if she said anything. “This is your problem,” court documents claim Bayhi said, “sweep it under the floor.”

But of course, when it comes to child sex, the church is ever more concerned with its bullshit dogma than protecting kids.

But the state’s high court vacated that ruling, claiming that the lower court had erred when it said that because the victim had communicated during a confession, Bayhi was not a mandatory reporter.

The Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge issued a statement in which it claimed that the court was “attack[ing] the seal of confession.”

Well, fuck 'em.

Speaking to Italy’s La Repubblica daily, Francis also condemned child sex abuse as a “leprosy” in the Church and cited his aides as saying that “the level of paedophilia in the Church is at two percent”.

“That two percent includes priests and even bishops and cardinals,” he said.
