You can always rely on the Catholic Church's moral compass. Just do the exact opposite and you know you're going the right way.

And it has been done repeatedly. All through the Middle Ages. One of them reportedly died by being punched in the face with an iron glove. The French king wasn't overly fond of this one. That was shortly before they were moved to Avignon for some supervised ass licking excercises.
