It's the common hypocrisy of the religous right.
It's similar to how they condemn fornication and masturbation but almost all have done or do it. The difference is Murphy made a promise to his wife and this is what makes it immoral. And use a condom.

I knew of so-called traditional Catholics (the SSPX type, just Wikipedia it) that were getting abortions or were using birth control.  In fact, there were SSPX priests who advised that women should use birth control while these same women were "confessing" their sins in the confessional! (Probably a good idea to use birth control anyway while in the confessional!)

P.S.  "Wikipedia" is now a verb, like "Google", and, remember it all started here (of course, this only means that it started somewhere else.)

As I noted elsewhere, if someone says their religious beliefs are sincerely held, yet it's easy to prove those religious beliefs are held only intermittently, it's pretty damn clear those beliefs are NOT SINCERELY HELD.

When I went to Catholic school, I suspect a lot of the kids parents used birth control as they typically had 2 kids.

The priests were giving them good advice but not very Catholic advice.

For some reason I can't condemn them even though I suppose they are hypocrites.

Murphy could very well have kept his position. Voters are not well informed.

If there's one thing I absolutely hate, it's hypocrisy. I've long seen a lot of hypocrisy from Christians I've known, and it somehow seems worse coming from them because they not only do in private what they condemn everyone else for doing, but they also consider themselves so much superior to other people doing the same thing. Google "the only moral abortion is my abortion" for stories of abortion protesters sneaking in the back door of a clinic to get an abortion, as pointed out by someone on this thread. The thing that's sickening is the attitude of "Well, I've got a couple of kids already, I'm not like those sluts out there who can't keep their legs together," even though a large percentage of women who get abortions are married with several kids already.

This story just furthers my belief that the more a Republican politician campaigns on a morality platform, the more he's got to hide.

It's the same when their underage daughters get pregnant, go in for the quickie abortion, be back out in time to "slut shame" everybody else.
