One way might be getting the fucking cops off the field during the games.

Um no, police are still needed to keep order. But I would agree that neither they or military should be the focus of a sporting event because it is nothing more than an entertainment simulation of war.

We need police and military, I think it would be foolish to think we could ever live without them. But it should not be tied to blind loyalty or forced ritual.

I think we can honor police and military without glorifying a gang mentality, which is what sports does.

Even long before this kneeling thing started, I have always hated assholes willing to fight at the stadium or at a bar over a mere game. Soccer fans in Europe and South America are nuts too.

I look at police and military as a necessity, but I would not want anyone becoming a police officer or joining the military with the goal of revenge. The ethical ones who serve are the ones who would rather not have to be called, just like a doctor while trained to do a surgery would prefer you stay healthy and not need the surgery.

They didn't cave to Trump, they caved to the fans. People cared about the flag well before Trump was in office.

You really think they're losing much money from this?

Either they're losing money from it, or they expect they'll lose money from it in the future. There's no other reason for Goodell to start changing his tune.

But they decided to not change their policy on the anthem. At least not yet.

Let the billionaire bastards hire private security for that.

The players have a labor contract.  The league can't impose new work rules without reopening the contract for negotiations. Requiring the players to stand for the racist national anthem is not a current provision in the labor contract.

They have a collective bargaining agreement. They can't unilaterally make certain changes. The tone of Goodell's letter certainly seems to indicate that owners want to back down.

No it does not . It indicates nothing . But i know you want to convince yourself of that.
