Should I tell my girlfriend that I'm an atheist?

RE: Should I tell my girlfriend that I'm an atheist?
I don't think this requires a Big Reveal or anything like that. It's not like you're telling her you have genital warts. If it comes up and you're unsure about saying 'atheist', then identify as a rational skeptic and leave it at that.

Anecdotal, and all joking aside...but you guys haven't heard me say anything that my wife hasn't...and she's heard some even choicer bits that won't fit here for being squarely against whatever loose rules we have.  She appreciates that I don't couch myself in saccharine terms and sweet nothingisms...it shows that I respect her enough as an equal not to believe that she's too fragile for mean words to be spoken about religion in her presence.  It;s not like I have to have the smelling salts at the ready everytime I crack a -seriously- nasty comment about god beliefs.

As a bonus, she knows me better than she would if I offered non-confrontational platitudes. What she was raised in and who I am are in direct confrontation - ignoring that would have been disastrous for our family.

Could totally work that in though.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

When she tries to convert you, ask really awkward questions in an innocent way so that she comes to realise how it all sounds to a fresh pair of ears.

e.g.

"So this god, do you actually hear him? Or you imagine hearing him?"
"So he is everywhere all the time, even when I want some privacy like on the shitter?"
"How do you know that God is male?"

Best advice I've heard. I'll take it.

And if she's studying Reiki? Now he's really fucked.

Religion doesn't have to play a part in the early stages of a relationship at all. If she isn't saying anything about it I don't think you should either. If and when things get more serious (I'm talking possible engagement) then bring it up cause the way to raise a family can differ for people with different religions. Don't want kids? Then you might just be good to go to never talk about it lol.

The only time I talk to my Catholic husband about religion is when we are making fun of religious nuts (he is pretty laid back and thinks a lot of things heavily religious people do are stupid and amusing) We both agreed to let our daughter ask her own questions when she is old enough, neither will prompt or preach anything until then.

Also if your signature makes my scrolling mess up "you're tacky and I hate you."

Same here. My wife wanted a baptism, but I convinced her it was better to let Sofia choose for herself. they usually baptize kids here at around 1 year of age. I am personally inbued with the holy spirits because my parents had a priest say words and splash water into your forhead. therefore I am saved Haha!

My daughter will have her free will on that.

If someone said that to me I'd wonder if genital warts were the only thing that they did not have because they specifically referred to it and not just say that they are free of all STDs.

But I found out that she does go to church and so she is most likely a Christian. I really do like this girl and I want to make it work with her, but she does not know that I'm an atheist. As a true atheist, I stand behind my beliefs 100%. But when it comes to women, that 100% turns into about 23%.

I don't think that admitting my atheism to her will sway her intentions towards me. I'm more likely to screw that up on my own. But none the less I am trying to present an image from the core of my being that is nothing more than myself. I keep it real. So I want to tell her that I don't believe in her God (though not exactly in those words LOL). Should I just make the announcement plain bold and simple? Or should I just wait until it kind of falls into place? Opinions atheists. I trust your feedback more than I've ever trusted the Christians, even if you guys have more sarcasm behind your rhetorics.

Well, being that you aren't dating yet, just wait till the topic comes up. But it's perhaps something she should know when you make it official. But I wouldn't make a point to mention it yet.

Lol I don't know. It doesn't seem like Goku or Vegeta have hairy backs. Nappa certainly doesn't.
