Eternal afterlife

Nope. I am who I am as much because of my failures as my successes. Perfection is just another lie you asshats tell yourselves to feel better about thinking you get to go someplace wonderful while the majority of those who ever lived go somewhere far worse.

To begin with I never said that the transformation makes you someone you are not, someone else said that,

and I understand that you are trying to show gratitude for the current human condition - well done.

Sorry for chopping up your post, but I generally only quote what I am commenting on.

One of the defining characteristics of human nature is our mortality; a lot of our actions stem from the finite time we have, this is often played upon in stories, where people behave very differently if they got to know they had a short time to live contrasted if they lived for a very long time or forever.

And all this about we'd have different bodies neglects that we are not just our brains, but our bodies too, it's an integral part of who we are as human beings.

Face it, you wouldn't be "you" if you lived the way Heaven is envisioned to be.

I totally agree, the idea of dispensing with the body and living in another state, if that is at all possible, denies the reality of the development and synchronicity between the mind and body, to form a whole character or person.
So the resurrection covers that need, by giving back the original body, but the disease, imperfections and mortality is taken away.

That' a pretty weak list of things to trade your mind, credibility and basic human decency for.  To each his own, I guess. You could just take a vitamin and go to bed a little bit earlier...you realize? The thord seems more than a little bit disingenuous, you know that you're going to die, it's conveniently -after- your death that you expect all the goodies in the first place.

You are the one that insists on some poor trade off. Please test your perceptions of what the Bible says.

And on the same note, death is not the doorway to the next life as taught by the churches and almost all religions, and there will be people living in the last days of earth who will be transformed without experiencing death.

I think "jesus" said the same....a few thousand years ago.  These sorts of predictions appear to be..unreliable.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I agree, the claims and stories of the Bible seem to be exaggerated.

For example, when I heard that there isn't enough water to cover the earth in a flood, I felt unhinged, even though I did not toss out the Bible. I felt the claim was false.
And it wasn't until decades years later that I discovered some of the answers, which showed that people were completely ignorant about the behavior of water on such large scales.

I will not discuss that topic here, perhaps in another thread sometime.

And as far as predictions go, historical fulfillment is pretty interesting, but as for the future, we really don't know until it happens. That's why Jesus said, "when it happens then you will know that what I said was true."

Yeah, if you wait long enough you're bound to come across some situation that can be press ganged into a "fulfilled" prophecy, lol.  Thankfully, no amount of failed prophecy seems to dissuade those who believe in prohecy. You should know a bit about that, being an adventist. How many times has the world ended for yall..I lost count.

"And lo the lord did say that the sun would rise..you know, sometime, wait for it"

I know what you are referring to, and I understand your point of view.

I'll get onto that sometime soon, just not here, because it's a diversion to the thread.

It's Kent Hovind, isn't it? Or Ken Ham.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

It's a complete failure to understand the pressures or conditions required for any Deluge to have been a reality.  I'm definitely going to enjoy that thread..though...I;ve been trying to get somebody to draw a square on a map and tell me where the flood happened so that I could do a little basic fucking hydrology for years now, lol.

If I wanted to start a thread on the flood, which would be the right section?
I want to have a scientific discussion, but some of the things I will be saying haven't been verified by science, so would it come under pseudo science?
