Young-Earth-Creationism - can you prove it's not true?

As a fellow Adventist, the theory is if you get rid of creation, you get rid of the Sabbath and that could never happen. So instead of people thinking for themselves they argue in circles using the Bible and EGW writings.

Why do you need a bullshit story for an excuse to take a day off and sit on the couch scratching your ass?

Yes, I was hoping to post it, but damned if you didn't beat me to it. Really, how else do you respond to such a broad statement?

I take it that you were aware that the first noteworthy thing Noah was said to have done after disembarking was to strip and get colossally drunk?

I assume if you try and actually give them some evidence they will either simply ignore it, dismiss it, or say that it can't be right because it contradicts their religion.

So my advice, attack them with humour:

That is still one of the most awesome articles the Onion has ever published. Big Grin

You can use the Bible itself to prove that the earth could be more than 6000 years old. This date is based on the assuption that the genealogies in the Bible are complete. But there are indications that not every generation is included. Exodus 6:18-20 says,
Quote:The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, the years of the life of Kohath being 133 years. The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites according to their generations. Amram took as his wife Jochebed his father's sister, and she bore him Aaron and Moses, the years of the life of Amram being 137 years.
This shows that Moses was the grandson of Kohath, but Genesis 46:11 shows that Kohath was alive then the Israelites settled in Egypt and Exodus 12:40 says that they were in Egypt 430 years. It is apparent that this genealogy is incomplete. Here is a good place to find out more on this subject:

Scientists who say the earth is billions of years old begin by assuming that all the natural processes we see have always gone on as they are now and that God has never intervened. When they come to the conclusion that these processes are responsible for what we see now isn't this also circular reasoning?

Here are two sites that don't base their beliefs on the Bible but reject the theory of evolution for scientific reasons:

His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

How do you know it hasn't been peer reviewed and if it hasn't what difference would that make?
