Well done, some people have a problem with a God who puts an end to hardened crims, their supporting codependent families, and their damaged offspring.
I'm just wondering how long he should give life and support a city full of peds.
What are your preferences?
And BTW which one of these threats by God was actually carried out, and on which occasions did it turn the tide of corruption?

I don't have a problem with God, in the same way I don't have a problem with the bogeyman. Both of these characters are used by adults to frighten children, it doesn't surprise me that God was given a murderous reputation by the goat herders, what does surprise me is that modern civilised human beings can try to justify it's actions and call it loving.

Yeah I have problem with killing babies, like anyone else that isn't a psychopath or brainwashed Christian. And their parents since people like Canaanites did nothing wrong except being at the wrong place.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

These nations had hundreds of years to work it out, they had been warned on many occasions, and they had gone about as low as humanity could go. I posted something about that earlier in this thread.
We are not God, so we don't know anything about real self sacrifice, and what personal suffering it causes God to sustain a dysfucntional and miserable race.
Not only that, we cannot forsee the full results of allowing a degenerate race to continue. God has seen it before, and I am surprised what he tolerates before he puts an end to it.
In fact, the people were desperate for God to do something about their civilisation, long before he intervened. But so long as there was hope for a single person, God would hold back due vengence. In the case of Jericho, the town prostitute and her relatives were saved by a miracle, because she was not personally interested in murdering the wandering Israelites like the rest of the city.
We are quick to judge God, but if God supports evil men, so that they can increase their moral and physical deformities, causing endless suffering, we blame God for the suffering in the world.
But if God cleans the earth of its destructive inhabitants, so that future generations can have some semblance of a normal life, we call him a tyrant.
On top of all that, we come across as being more righteous than God. When our lives have a history of lying, manipulating, selfishness, greed, war and murder, stealing, unfaithfulness, fornication, malice, deceit, blasphemy, insensitivity, misjudging, misrepresenting, uncleanliness, neglect, willing ignorance, the list goes on.
It is the common human condition.
I am all for ideals, but given the history of humanity, isn't it time we admitted defeat?
But the world is basically OK isn't it? And what would be the cause of that?
Or would you like to give humanity the credit for that?
Sorry, but that would be a blind mistake.

He holds out on his judgement. Yeah, because killing and bloodshed is about the only thing he knows how to do. It's not like he knows how to really fix society's problems. Oh yeah, he suffers so much, apparently being able to speak everything he needs into existence, and have the power to do anything he wants. Are you for real? We're over here putting blood sweat and tears into solving the problems in the world, while theists claim that if we pray hard enough, it will somehow fix our country. Despite the fct that highly religious countries have the same problems as anything else. Except adding more oppression and less freedom into the mix.
What good are warnings if there isn't any substantial solution that comes with it? You refer to genocide as "cleaning the world". That's where the disconnect is. Killing people isn't solving the problem. Yes, the world is ok in many places. And it's the secular democracies where that goodness most comes from. Not theocracies where people cling to holy books and pray at deities that aren't there.

Yeah, we know G-C. You're invisible big brother is going to punish all of us for eternity for telling you that you are a gigantic fuckhead. I'm sure a sick fuck like you is dreaming of the day when you can sit on your fucking cloud, eating popcorn and watch!

You're arguing with a guy whose church gave birth to the Branch Davidians and who's greatest "modern prophet" was a woman despite their adamant belief that women cannot hold positions of authority in the church.

God owns everything. It is His will. Not our will. He makes the rules. We either live by them, or not. Simple
Luckily we all have a lawyer named Jesus Christ. He can help us if we ask Him to. Or, we can go it alone. And those who step into His courtroom w/o their lawyer, will find a cunning, truthful human prosecutor that they know very well. Very well indeed!
John 3:18-22
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God. And receive from Him anything we ask, because we keep His commands and do what pleases him.
-------------------------------------------------
"I cried out for an answer to the Lord: in my pain, suffering, and complete lack of understanding. Why should I have any Faith in You?"
He answered me with a question... "Am I, not the God of everything?"
AMEN!
