The economy continues to tank?
Do you remember 2008? The economy had collapsed. The banks and the auto industry were ready to fold. We were looking at the next Great Depression.
Today, we have sluggish growth in the economy. Not great but better than free fall.
The stimulus wasn't nearly as big as it needed to be. You can thank compromise with the Republicans and Obama's weak leadership for that. Jobs have been created in the private sector but lost in the public sector due to state and local spending cuts. We can expect more if the Republicans get their way. In any event, things are better now than they were two years ago.
So what do you think the Republicans will bring to the table? What's their plan to cut 700 billion in taxes for the top 1% and still balance the budget at the same time? How are they going to create jobs and cut spending at the same time? Before you answer "tax cuts will solve everything", we've tried that under Bush. It's proven to be an inefficient means of stimulating the economy.

My guess is that he put that totally out of his mind.
2008 was a long time ago for those people.
Greedy criminal corporations creating shitty retail jobs at WalMart is not going to solve our problems. I absolutely cringe when these talking heads on CNBC whine about "consumer spending" or "consumer confidence." If waiting for people to go fucking shopping is what they think is going to bring good times they are in for a sad shock.
We'd better fucking learn to build things that people want to buy.

I don't know if I've mentioned it here before but I'm convinced that conservatives suffer a problem with their memory function in their brains. Some examples I've experienced in conversation:
- "No, this isn't 'normal' that we barely get any snowfall in Louisville anymore. Don't you remember the 70s and 80s when we got our first snow around Thanksgiving? Remember when 'winter' used to mean 'bundle up' and not 'put on a sweater'? I've got a full body snowsuit in my closet that hasn't seen the light of day in 15 years.
- "No, the original reason for invading Iraq wasn't to spread democracy. It was because they supposedly had ties to Al Qaida and were about ready to develop a nuclear bomb to hand off to them."
- "No, the Wall Street bailout was during the Bush administration."
- "No, tax cuts won't pay for themselves through economic growth. Republicans have tried it for 30 years now."

W. is a centrist next to this latest batch of Republicans.

I live in SC and the Republicans won everything of course. I voted mainly liberal. I think the only person I voted for that won was Manning Lynch for Sewer Commissioner.
