Let's Talk About Books

Sophie's world is a history of philosophy told as a fictional story of a teenage girl receiving philosophy lessons from a mysterious philosopher.

I've given up on trying to commit each individual philosopher and their beliefs to memory. Way too many foreign names. I wasn't good at that sort of thing in school.

Dont try to rote memorize the names and all. If you keep reading phillsophy stuff, youll naturally start to remember what each phillsopher of the Greeks and others stood for. Im posting this on mobile so excuse the sloppy typing.

RE: Let's Talk About Books
I'm currently writing my first book.
It's been going well, but I'm a bit stalled out in the middle of chapter 8.

My problem is not the lack of material, rather too many options of where to go. Can't nail it down in my head.

What's the opposite of 'writer's block'

Yeah, I've been published a lot with magazine articles (mostly regional and e-zines), but this is my first foray into the world of novels.
It's such a different beast, but I have some good connections and maybe ... with a little luck.  We'll see.

EDIT: Not trying to say I'm Mr. Professional Writer, I'm not. Hell, I've only been paid for half of my articles and not much at that.
I just didn't want anyone to think that I've never written anything before and that I was making lite of authorship as a profession.

Oh, who cares? You could have written some scribble on a bathroom wall and it's impressive to undertake writing a novel. It literally is something anyone who can string two words together can do. Whether you can do it well is another matter, but I don't think that matters. Whether you write a "good" book or a bad book, you still wrote a book.

Write everything Cin.  Take every tangent and explore every arc and..later, pick the ones you like the most in editing.  Save all of the rest for some other story, some other time. Nail it down on paper, don't worry about nailing it down in your head.
