Okay, wonderful..then what was it you were saying..again?  That if people were actively interested things would change?  

They are, you're spitting in the face of reality thinking that active interest is limited to ride-alongs, local oversight committees, or hanging out with cops.  

If they aren't..okay, then -now what-.  Still a problem, still have to do something.

What else do they do? And how many actually do it? I've stated what the man-on-the-street needs to do to HELP change things.

If you've somehow missed that the issue of cops is a driving issue all the way up to the national level I don't know what to tell you. I'm not sure what good riding around with my buddys dad is supposed to be, compared to that.

I do not think that attending a local oversight committee, riding in a cruiser, or hanging out with cops....is a legitimate answer to the problems we are actively interested in at a national level regarding the institution of law enforcement. I don't think it would have the effect that you think it would, and if what you say is true then it would strongly suggest that we need a solution which doesn't depend on greater citizen participation in any of those activities suddenly manifesting itself.

So, for clarity, do you or do you not maintain that 

 If, say, 10% of the public let the Police Department know that they were actively interested in what was happening IN THEIR OWN TOWN, thing will most probably change. A lack of accountability comes from a lack of oversight.

This seems to imply that greater participation and/or a more vocal role would change the landscape, as it were.  So, something like BLM?

Or, if that's true, since we don't have that level of participation or..apparently, that level of noise...do we not still need to do something?  To accept the reality at hand and, from that starting point, address the problem in a manner that does not depend on what we are insisting does not exist?

I can understand that, though I'd say to cut them some slack.  Being in the discussion is important.  It's the collective braintrust from which movements draw support, as clownish as it can be.

Just saw another video of a woman getting shot to death by cops. This is absolutely disgusting, why do people tolerate this?

People pay the cops to protect them. They're called public SERVANTS, that's what they're called. Why are people that pay these cop's salaries being shot to death I'll never know. The killing part should only be reserved for military and specialized forces, not the cops. I personally  think cops shouldn't be allowed to kill, the government should value the life of it's citizens and protect it not be so carefree with lives.

I see what you did there. I don't believe you. Many people need to be put down on the spot and taken out, but that doesn't mean that criticism of the police isn't warranted if that's what you're aiming at with this thread. The police are a gang who plant things on people to frame them, who beat people when those people are no longer a threat to them, and who even chase people down and shoot them in the back sometimes. I don't want to see harm done to the police though, so of course they should shoot to kill when it appears to them that it is necessary. Who's going to want to sign up to be a police officer when they're not allowed to protect themselves? The people with the extreme views are the ones that don't want the cops to shoot, because they don't care about police dying.

Active shooter(s) inside a building full of teenagers. Should the police calmly wait outside for the shooter(s) to exit or kill themselves (as they sadly did at Columbine) or should a trained police sharp-shooter take the shot (which was available at columbine) through the window?

Or because we do, in addition to caring about whether or not a police officer is made to kill someone, as well as whether or not some poor fucker gets shot by the police.

That seems to be a major disconnect.
