Probably stareotypes based on skin color. That would be my guess at least, but who knows.
The only stereotype I know about black people is that they have big wieners. Maybe the racists are jealous?🤔

Ignorance causes racism.
His question is more "Why did the husband beat his wife" (asking the racist/wife beater what exactly their reason is, isn't blaming the victim)
Yes, if we try to understand their prejudice we will be more equipped to know how to counter it, that's what I meant but Mermaid has accused me of victim blaming in just the second post which already has two kudos from thump and fireball, and her next post was "I hope so", so I now that I've victim blamed and contributed to racism myself I guess I have become a racist today. Yay 😌

You'd think in 2009 we wouldn't still have to deal with that kind of shit but, nope, we still do.
Bigoted people live all over not just in the south. My wife's mom is racist and she lives in the north and God does have a sense of humor because she has black great grand children.

Really we elected a black president for two terms previously, that would mean a major turn around to become a nation of bigots. Racist just holler louder because people who care about all people are tuning them out. The less we listen to their crap and respond to it the less they will be heard. News agencies just love the drama of racist and non racist clashing, makes them money. When people no longer get the attention they need they will fade away, takes time and patience.

Being racist is not exclusively a black thing, people that are racist want to feel superior, they have inadequacy fears and project that upon the easiest targets or most popular targets. For me they are just plain ol' morons. Many men especially love their black sports heroes while hating all the rest of the race, I have a friend that's that way and I let him have it every time he makes a racist comment, he just can't see it. It amazes me how blind hatred makes people.
If someone was to test me using race as the premise and I found out... I might forget my Christian love and punch their lights out, because to use race as a test to me would promoting racist attitude, a test like that would be as low as it gets.

I dated a black girl for a while.
I didn't even know she was black when I started dating, her I just thought she had a nice tan.
In a way I suppose she did.

He's bad and disgusting. Stay away. Then at that impressionable age you're probably gonna believe it. And some people never grow out of that.
For example: We're Indians. I know for a fact that most of us make derogatory jokes about the size of the eyes of south east asians. And it's not even seen as anything wrong. Talking about people of other races as being different from us, is where the trouble starts. That's a form of racism, I suppose, and it's just taken far too many steps further in some cases. Similarly, people can claim that they're not racist, but if they talk in a derogatory manner about other races in private, they may do that because that's how they've been brought up. A bit like religion, tbh. And that's just gonna be passed on to their kids.
If you're asking about why anyone became a racist in the first place, then that's far too rooted in history, I guess.

I gave kudos for the joke about "stopped beating his wife". Don't make too much out of kudos. They can be given for reasons other than what one assumes.

This is a leap of logic. I can believe you're victim-blaming without believing you to be racist.

Part way through the day we stopped for a coffee at a major caffeine shop, while we were queueing, my guide said "let's move to the other queue, I don't want to be served by a black person" What should I have done? If I made a fuss, it would make my job very difficult as I needed him to take me around, if I kept quiet I would seem to be sharing his views.
In the end I chickened out and kept quiet but still feel bad about it
I would have stayed in the original queue, unless the other queue started moving faster. No forget that, I would have kicked him really hard in the nuts. IT jobs are ten a penny.
