Would you date a theist?

RE: Would you date a theist?
Though my significant other also shares my similar belief system, or rather disbelief system Wink, I would like to think that if this wasn't the case for either of us, that I would still feel the same way for her for what kind of person she is, despite that she might believe in, what I consider to be, fairy tales! And of course vice-versa. People are defined by their ideas, but maybe most importantly, their actions, not the badges that have been bestowed on them long before they could even abbreviate a word!
"We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in, some of us just go one god further..." Richard Dawkins

"If the world does come to an end here, or wherever, or if it limps into the future, decimated by the effects of religion-inspired nuclear terrorism, let's remember what the real problem was that we learned how to precipitate mass death before we got past the neurological disorder of wishing for it." I find my wife very likeable because of her beliefs. Although I sometimes make fun of her I wouldn't have her any other way. When I'm ill she prays and I appreciate it, and when she's got a cold I just give her some lemsip and get myself down the pub. And she always says "aaah, bless", which is quite nice. Maybe it's the way she says it.

As long as the beliefs do not get in the way of the relationship, I would certainly date a theist. I think we could still hold a sensible and healthy relationship as long as the subject of religion is not raised.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Cool...........

You'll have to post a vid.

I knew a man who taught his asshole how to talk; his abdomen would jiggle up and down as he farted out the words. Pretty cool trick really. After a while it grew pointy toothlike structures and would chew through his pants. He included it in the act and would talk back and forth with it. It would throw the gags back in his face every time.

Problem was that it started getting lonely. It wanted to be kissed and loved, just like any other mouth. It would go on crying jags and keep the man up nights wailing that it wasn't loved. He tried shoving things up it, candles, cucumbers, whatever would fit, but it wouldn't stay quite for long. The asshole made threats and the man would argue with it day and night. "In the end it will be YOU who is silent." said the asshole. In the morning the man found a slippery substance like a tadpoles tail had grow over his mouth. He wiped it off but every morning thereafter it would grow back thicker and more persistent. Eventually he couldn't remove it and for a while you could see the suffering in his eyes. Eventually the suffering winked out; the eyes went cold, and grey.

Teaching your ass how to talk is certainly not a good idea,

Even if I found a theist that didn't scare the crap out of me, I'm quite certain that no theist would want to date me. So, I have no real concerns there. Big Grin

Don't you think it sad that in order to get along with someone you have to avoid an entire topic of conversation? Mt wife talks about religion a lot and the fact that we don't agree enhances rather than hinders it.

RE: Would you date a theist?
Unless she sees it as her mission in life to convert me to her flavor of theism, I'd have no problem dating a theist. The converting thing would get old pretty quick, and would be a deal breaker for me. So I guess it would depend on how evangelical she is about her belief. If she is like most theists I meet in my country, I don't see much of a problem.

My wife was an evanjelical christian when I met her, now she's a spiritaulist medium. (I shit you not)

We dont talk about religion any more.

Theres no point because 'she knows the truth the spirits have spoken to her'............Sigh
