My religious teacher will become a father

My teacher is that type of christian who thinks (or at the very least claims) that Jesus will return to judge us and that the bread and wine at the Eucharist are literally the flesh and blood of Christ.
He talked with one of my classmates about creating a website for his parish (the teacher is also a priest).
If the seperation of church and state wouldn't took place we would've never had websites or other technologies for that matter.

Catholicism is just a man-made religion, one of thousands that is destined for the dustbin of history. You have no reason to be angry; the faith that you have renounced is meaningless, false and impotent. In 1,000 years (hopefully, much less), people will look back on this age with bewilderment. Consider yourself to have been enlightened.

You think an atheist web site will help a 95% religious country , 80% homophobic, 56% believe christianity is part of our national identity. Dude , stop lying to yourself , we live in a very compartimentalized country.

In the US, secularism is growing. I'll start a new thread on this, as I recently came across some interesting data.

Since forever?  At least in the USA, religion is considered a social class - like race, disability, gender, orientation - with regards to discrimination in the eyes of the law.

Social class is a division of a society based on social and economic status, not what deity you bow to and some deists really made a killing and are in the upper class

Hey, I thought an atheist forum to create a community, that would be at least some start.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I meant to say protected class, not social class.  My apologies for inaccurate terminology.

That said, religion has been a legally protected class against discrimination in the USA since the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  Doesn't matter if that religion is one of the Baskin Robbins flavors of Christianity or not.

To get back to the subject at hand, yes, lamenting that a member of a protected class is breeding is 100% bigotry.  There's no substantive difference between saying "Ugh, I hate that my Christian teacher is having a kid!" and "Ugh, I hate that my black teacher is having a kid!" or "Ugh, I hate that my gay teacher is having a kid!"  All such sentiments make you a bigot and asshole.

Or it's simply the case when someone says "I know that person. She/ he is a creep and I feel sorry for their children". She's not judging all the religious couples, as she tried to explain. Nevertheless Christians on this forum eager to feel persecuted quickly took that advantage and made it into that. I mean let's face it some kids are having it really hard because of their religious parents and what DA described the guy does sound like a fundie and a total idiot. I mean maybe DA is wrong the kid will have a happy childhood but maybe it will have hard life like some of these kids:

RE: My religious teacher will become a father
Hey, I'm definitely no Christian.  The problem is, is that rather than state "I think this guy is going to be a bad dad because he's fucked up, and his religious views are an avenue through which he'll likely legitimately abuse his kid," she essentially said "I'm not happy because he's a Christian, and all Christians are stupid and mean and indoctrinate their kids."

I mean, when she was pressed on it, she brought up Christian-motivated murders and things of that nature which had absolutely nothing to do with this particular guy having a kid, which makes me believe she's painting with an incredibly wide - and unfair - brush.

The point is that, unless the individual in question is like one of the people you pictured above (and no doubt, there's too many of them), then bitching about it isn't warranted.  Like I said before, the world is filled with billions of theists, and they're going to be her boss, her doctor, her banker, etc.  If her teacher simply having a kid is enough for her to start a subject about how offensive and wrong it is to her, how is she going to handle theists determining her livelihood and physical well-being in the future?

In other words, pick your battles.  You're not going to stop theists from breeding.  And you're never going to convince anyone to stop being a theist by insulting them (and writing things like "I hate it when people like you have kids" isn't something most people will be receptive to).  I understand that everything is dramatic when you're a teenager (even late teens), but this?  Right here?  Isn't a big deal.

But, whatever. I'm not going to waste any more time on this subject.

Atheism doesn't make you any better than a theist , it is more about the road than the outcome. Trust me , I have endlessly explained homosexuality to people and for no result , this country needs to be infused with information and a lot of it, and I'm not sure that this will work , I mean when I say 95% I mean doctors, engineers, programmers, philosophers , psychologists almost every type of intelectual. Compartimentalization , they are separating religion from science .
Edit: Btw , DA why are you attending the religion class , it is not mandatory in school anymore and it is and Orthodox class?

RE: My religious teacher will become a father
I was sent to fundamentalist evangelical Christian churches all throughout my childhood and brainwashed into it, and yet, I still found my way to atheism.

There is hope.
