So I shouldn't have the right to express my opinion if I disagree with their values? I'm not forcing them to believe what I believe, I didn't even tell them what I think. I made a post which NOBODY is forced to read.
You say that it's not my concern what parents teach their children, then why is it your concern to teach me what you think?
You're alot like those SJW's, but with religion instead of political correctness. You're looking to be offended, you like playing the victim role because you don't have any better arguments. If someone has the same opinion as you, you'll call them victims too.
I will never loose up when I mature, no if it means to become an overly sensitive, bigotet, arrogant hypocrite who follows the herd just like sheep. Someone like you.

You made a post bitching about your teacher and his wife being pregnant because he's a theist. If you don't want to get called out, don't say stupid obnoxious bullshit.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

As I said, I bitched about the indoctrination part, not the fact that he has kids. My teacher told us he believes in Hell. If indoctrinating a kid into believing in Hell isn't serious to you, then I won't see you as a role model. If you don't agree with murder, would you like the idea of a murderer having kids? I'm not saying that religious people are murderers, but I do think they have some ideas which are damaging for society, like eternal Hell, Original Sin and so on. Not to mention that Christianity was used to justify murders in the Past.
If you don't agree with my opinion, then bring counter arguments for the opinion itself. Don't say I'm bigotet because I express my opinion which is different from yours. If you don't want to get called out, then don't criticise me for things I didn't say or did. If you have such a sensitive ego, then don't get into discussions with people who disagree with you.
And I did expect to get called out by people like you. I geniuenly disagree with you and have the freedom of speech, that's the reason why I'm replying to you.
You're too proud to admit to yourself how arrogant and bigoted you are, you would rather find excuses to continue living like this than except the truth. You are calling others intolerant for being different than you because you yourself can't accept them the way they are. People like you get pleasure from bringing others down. I'm sorry, it will not work with me, you gotta find someone else to criticise so you'll feel superior.

So you say we are to go in and force these parents to raise their children in the way we see fit, sounds like slavery to me, you promoting slavery?

Teaching through lying is indoctrination.

FM Wrote:Yes they can tell parents but they can't order them, unlike Christians that order parents not to use contraception. Also atheists are 100% for telling kids that there are people that believe in mythological creatures and letting them decide what to believe. Religious people are the ones that force children to believe in god by scaring the shit out of them like the practice that continues in many religious families and churches today and that is telling children when the curtains move at night, it is the devil trying to get in their room and they need to pray to god to keep him away. Or completely ostracizing them from the family if they don't believe in their god.
Atheists wait until kids are experienced adults that have learned how to think critically to tell them about how universe is governed by the Trimurti of Brahma and see if they'll believe it or brush it away.

No one has the right to order a parent to teach their children other than what the parent sees fit. Christians do not order and can't make others to use contraception, we are not like the communist Chinese, though I'm sure you're not intelligent enough to know the difference. The bold by me shows a most ignorant and completely stupid person who would rather demean anyone who thinks different from him, we call this bigoted and that is you in a nut shell. Atheist indoctrinate their children just by their actions and speech that occurs around their children. I know this is not important to you now but at judgement if you haven't changed it will. Jesus said anyone (this applies to you) that keeps the small ones from me would be better to tie a mill stone around their neck and toss themselves in the river. meaning you are making a worse hell for yourself ever day you live.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Yeah GC is talking to himself again.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

DA, feeling frustration and dismay that someone of a particular social class - in this case, a religion - is breeding simply because they're a member of that social class is bigotry.  It's one of the classic forms of it.

Regarding your demands for people to create counter arguments to your opinions, since your opinions stem from illogic (for example, bringing up religiously motivated murders 'in the past' when there's nothing to indicate that your teacher is having a child for religious reasons), there's no real way to proceed.  You're demanding your opposition be held to a higher standard than yourself.

You also don't seem to understand what freedom of speech actually means.  It's not "I can say whatever I want and you have no right to criticize me."  All it means is that the government (at least, in the USA) cannot punish you simply for having an opinion.  It doesn't mean that you can't face other consequences, such as being rebuked.

Finally, spend less time on the internet.  Your employment of the term SJW really only shows that you're spending time in the areas of the internet that are havens for bigots and assholes.

I get that being a young adult surrounded by theists, and without the ability to live how you want, is frustrating.  But that's no excuse to turn yourself into a living example of the stereotypical angry atheist who must make it known that every little thing a theist does annoys them.  Your teacher's having a kid and will likely raise that kid in that religion.  So fucking what?  Billions of other theists do the same thing, and you can't do anything about it.  It's not worth complaining about.

What? Since when is religion a social class? If nothing you can see religious people on this forum defending bigot and his "Shithole countries" remark, so in a way DA is fighting against bigotry by wanting less Christians.

Perhaps DA just wants to talk about religious upbringing and her frustration probably comes from realization that, because of truly high number of people in her country being taught nonsense as truth, her country will probably never make a significant contribution to scientific research and have a boost in technological global economy market. Unfortuneatly it is a problem teaching kids religious nonsense, a problem that is addressed by many smart people like Bill Nye

and Lawrence Krauss

Now maybe we could help DA by giving her some good advice of how to help her country make more atheists and in that way stand on it's feet. Mayve she could start an atheist webpage in her country.

Since forever? At least in the USA, religion is considered a social class - like race, disability, gender, orientation - with regards to discrimination in the eyes of the law.

That conservative assholes are chipping away at what discrimination means, or what it consists of, or who can do it is a completely separate argument.

Maybe she could/should. However, the best advice I can give is for her to stop dwelling on the small shit she can't change, and to keep her head down until she can provide for herself. Survival - both in a physical/housing/monetary sense and mental sense - should be paramount right now.

Honestly, she makes all these posts acting like she's such a victim, but based on the stuff she's said about her parents (even when she's trying to make them look bad), they seem like normal, decent people. I highly doubt they would kick her out of the house, disown her, punish her, or beat her if she told them she no longer believed. It really just comes off like these string of threads where she overblows everything are just her seeking attention here. Especially with a thread like this one.
