Probably more closely related to Brian Boru than Boru (I'm the right clan at least).

Sorry, you've lost me Blush ...is B'Stard an Irish thing? I'm half Irish but I've never lived there and don't know much of my family history on that side. I've only been to visit a few times... the land of gloomier weather than England... if such a thing is possible... and an almost total lack of road signs Wink

Don't knock it till you try it; Rick and Morty's absolutely brilliant. I don't know about CTN cos I saw it on Netflix but BTTF is Back To The Future and it is indeed like that; Rick is like the character of the Doc and Morty is like the character of Marty. It's definitely worth a watch Smile

Cool. Yeah, I've heard of that, just never seen it and didn't know it had Rik Mayall. Definitely got to watch it now if it had him in it Wink I do like political satire; Yes [Prime] Minister, Rory Bremner and/or Bird and Fortune, and The Thick Of It; but I dread to think what Rik Mayall's take on it will be Wink I take it he's the B'Stard? Atheism = "I don't believe that any deities exist."  That's all.  He seems to think that there is some set of rules . . . !!

<quietly passes the book, "Rules of How Atheists Must Act in Public" under the secret atheist's internet door>

It has that picture of the guy herding cats on the cover.

Ooh, thank you thank you Fireball!  An actual rule book!  What a fun cover image!!!

RE: The truth of Atheism
Isn't Crying out to god essentially praying?
And isn't (demanding alteration) praying inherently useless, both to The believer as The non-believer?
To The non-believer because he doesn't believe in The spiel. To The believer because it's asking for a preset plan by a much wiser and Smarter, infallible creature, to be changed, knowing that that planning creature planned that you would ask to change The plan?

Don't get me wrong. When i had a black-out during an exam i also said to myself: 'oh god, no please.' But that stuff is as inate as saying 'oh fuck, no please'. Which i also say. Which doesn't make it that i believe sex will solve my problem. (It could sometimes, but not always.)

It'd go a long way to sorting out my problem.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

No, crying out to god is distinct from prayer.  In magic book, and in life..people cry out to the heavens as an expression of frustration and despair at futility.

Prayer, for it's part, is an expectation.

It's sort of an interesting subject..because as much attention as it doesn't get from the faithful for what it is, crying out to heaven is an overt display of doubt and rejection. Even god himself on the cross is said to have done as much. It humanizes what would otherwise be believing robots in a book about cunt-god, and as such it stands as a rare and brutal moment of honesty in the narrative. People cry out to the heavens for the deaths of their children. They know they;ve been lost. They pray that their children will be in heaven..because they expect as much from the god who killed them. God, playing it's role, chastises those who cry out to heaven in anguish, and rewards those who pray humbly. This dynamic isn;t exclusive to christianity, either. We've thought this for some time about many gods. You find the moments in every skillful fairy tale.
