Nor is now ever the time to try to discuss or fix the problem.  Hopes and prayers, people, hopes and prayers.

And whatever you do, DON'T politicize the debate.  Don't, for example, write to the legislator for your area, asking him/her to maybe sponsor a law to keep guns out of the hands of unsuitable people.  If you do that, the families of the victims will never get closure.

Right.  Video games are the problem.  Movies are the problem.  The insane USian fixation on guns isn't the problem.

Dunno about you, but I watched easily 1000 hours of Looney Tunes when I was a kid, and I have yet to drop an anvil on anyone.

Sure. They could be just as much to blame as anything else for what's going on. We've created a culture of violence here through Hollywood and video games including other media sources. This goes way beyond a gun control issue when a kid can take it in his heart and mind to go out and commit murder.

There were also movies that glorified violence through guns, knives, bombs, axes, etc. which have all been used in actual killings. Don't know about the anvil thing you watched on 1000s of Looney Tune cartoons, though.

Blaming violent media is a bullshit politically motivated excuse . There is fuck all evidence that it creates killers . And there are countries with far more violent games and media who don't have mass shootings .

The shooter was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Imagine if he had been in the army invading North Korea. He would be a hero for shooting so many people and probably would have gotten at least a Silver Star if not the Congressional Medal of Honor for his deeds. We need such people on the front lines when we go to war and they can be hailed as heroes. If people weren't willing to kill then we wouldn't have any wars and the bankers couldn't get richer than they are.

        Public mass shootings are deemed bad, but government sanctioned murder gets you a pay check and no jail time. How is still tolerated in the age of the internet?
