Perhaps none of us know the truth

RE: Perhaps none of us know the truth
One of the reasons that I quit frequenting this forum is because I came to the conclusion that there is no objective scientific proof for the existence of God.  It's a waste of time to try to argue someone into believing that there is a God or anything beyond our natural existence.  How could a method that can only test natural existence prove the existence of a supernatural realm?  I came to the point where I had to consider both possibilities equally, but I found that I was unable to "not believe" in a supernatural existence.  It just made no sense to me.  It appears that the universe is infinite and we have no idea of all that exists.  We all have to make our own call no matter how may people are screaming in our ears.

Status quo unchanged then.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Maybe the trouble isn't some imaginary limit of science to test your supernatural claims, Lek?  Maybe, and I'm just spitballing here....the problem is that your favorite supernatural claims are complete bunk?

The reason that we don't believe in ghosts anymore isn't that we're unable to test ghost stories.  It's because we can and have.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

What means did we use to test?

That was actually well said, Lek.  Too bad you came to the wrong conclusion.  Some humans seem to have a crashing desire to over-complicate things.  Most likely from the formation of the planet until between 200-300,000 ybp there was not a single living creature on earth with the remotest chance of even considering a question with that depth.  Think of that.  For 330,000,000 years from the late Devonian until sometime probably in the late Paleolithic no being on earth gave a rat's ass about any god.

Early man - like early wolves, cows, beavers, etc., worried about eating, sleeping, fucking and drinking.  Somehow, they managed to survive without the supernatural realm that you have conjured up to suit your own needs.

I believe in life after death.  Unfortunately it won't include me.

If someone could even define what an "afterlife" is, in terms that make any sense at all, involving things that have actually been shown to exist, then at least there would be a debate. Right now it's just people telling magical stories, and there's no particular reason to take them seriously. Same goes for God, and other woo concepts.

Few people claim to know the truth about everything, and if they do, I agree they are misguided.

(Sure, anyone can say, "Maybe [any old nonsense]". Fine. We have a limited amount of time in our lives, so it makes sense to consider those claims which have some evidence behind them as a priority. Those that don't can wait until some has been provided. If no one can find any evidence, then it can't be much of a pressing issue.)

Good to see that you're posting again Rob.  I've been gone a long time and you were already absent for a good while before I dropped out.  I don't believe in life after death as much as I believe that, as the universe is infinite, we also live infinitely.
