Do you have any idea how many people have come to this forum preaching about NDE's? And how many links about NDE's have been posted? And some of us took a look at those links and did research into the fad. I'm with the ones who have concluded, after some research, that no NDE report to date have proved any evidence of the existence of an afterlife. You are just one more NDE-fan in a long list.

Although I think God is certainly capable of giving people visions according to His will, I personally don't buy the whole NDE idea. I think that once a person's soul is disembodied and passes into eternity, there's no coming back. That seems to be the basic teaching of Scripture on the subject. I also think the biological explanations for NDEs are a bit more convincing than a bundle of unusual accounts by people. I've personally seen a number of these interviews, and a number of them contradicted one another and did not seem to line up to Scripture. RE: Fear of hell, advice please

Of course they would. Depictions of Jesus are everywhere, in a culture that promotes vivid details of him, details that are translated to vivid concepts in our minds, differing according to our personal attitudes and experiences. Hell, the Bible has vivid depictions of Jesus (in Revelation). And ... you only see the accounts that tend to be published online. Quote:Many describe Jesus as having dark hair, while his pictures in the USA make him look almost blond, so the American paintings don't usually mesh with the description of him. Have you not seen Jesus in some of the movies? Jesus of Nazareth, anyone? Quote:Yes his appearance slightly differs from person to person, but there is an answer to that: That's the best they can come up with? Read above to see what I see as the best explanation. It's all psychological, so of course depictions of Jesus are going to change with each person. And on the contrary, if NDEs implied something supernatural happening, why would they differ at all when it comes to Jesus' form? orthodox-man, it takes time to research this topic. I seen few NDE reports and it's impossible to know what those people saw(unless you use lie detector or hypnotize them) and did they added a lot of things to make a good enough story to "save" souls.
Seeing how believers like to lie on end day dates as well as reveled fake cases of NDE, I just don't trust religion anymore. Precisely purplepurpose. Believers in every religion have relied for thousands of years on threats and fantasy stories. Without any sort of true global intelligence, these worked quite well. Even today, social media teems with "true stories" posted by various stripes of preachers. A (very religious) friend of mine posted one, and I responded with the studies that debunked the story that she posted. Her response was fury. She said "I don't care if it really happened or not, it's inspirational, so it's true." They are running on thousands of years of "whatever that Shaman tells you is true" and if you challenge that you will go to hell. A lot of religious folks are still working in parable mode - the story doesn't have to be true as long as it brings people to GOD. I'm so glad that we have entered into an era of fact-checking and peer-reviewed data. -- Even if we have to wade through a swamp of "fake news" to get there as a society.

You do not seem to be a careful reader. If you would have paid attention to these NDEs you would have noted that religions are out in most cases. Even religious people after their NDE change in favor of spirituality. But I guess you wouldn't even know what is the difference between religion and spirituality. |
