My only philosophical goal is to be able to write a simple, declarative sentence without the word 'fuck' in it.

I'd have to agree with Rskovride. It's a bit long, TD. Maybe you could have put two or three essential ideas in the OP for discussion and linked to the entire piece.
(Of course you could still just do that now.)

Most people seek pleasure, but it's about how they go about it and balance things.
I'd say hedonism is about placing higher value on pleasure you can have right now, at the expense of your future wellbeing, and perhaps other people's. Doing that repeatedly is going to cause problems long term.

I meant that if someone is saying all they care about is pleasure, I'd say that they'd also want to reduce their own suffering where possible.
