I buy bizarre things at white elephant sales. In the past several years, I've purchased: A pair of stuffed owls, a hand-cranked pencil sharpener in the likeness of Charlie Chaplin, an Agatha Christie hardback that I bought solely for the inscription ('Jimmer - Don't tell Marsha I gave you this, too much drama. See you soon, Edgar.'), an unopened box of crayolas that are all the same colour (red), a set of cigarette cards depicting famous Prussian generals, and a moustache cup with 'Mom' hand painted on it.
I get a kick out of doing this. It drives the missus spare - she's the practical one, always looking for bargains that she can resell. Takes all the fun out of it, if you ask me. Boru

Road trips. Bicycle riding around towns I don’t know. Writing. Craft beer hunting. Organizing poetry events in the community. I do all these things frequently enough and I’m satisfied. I’m currently researching cruiser bikes, because I want to get my own, load it to the back of my car, and stop having to use rentals every other weekend when I go out of town. This weekend is the first weekend in a very long time that I don’t have a road trip planned. That might change by Friday. The road is my therapy. I wouldn’t mind taking up photography, but I’d need to invest in a decent camera. Godscreated also sparked my curiosity with carving, but I haven’t done anything to actually start. I’m always too busy heading out the house.

I bought a curved spoon knife and tried my luck at carving a spoon. It didn’t turn out too great, lol. I love to watch YouTube vids on spring-pole lathes, axe carving and whittling.
