For me it's mostly cantaloupe and watermelon, tough I like cherries in things.

Just so you guys don't call me a racist, the green one, also known as toad's skin melon, is a very close second.
In Portugal, we call these "melão", plural melões.

The cantaloupe (and other more spherical kinds) we call "meloa" (which is the female version of melão). I don't know the etymology, but we do make that distinction.
However... when it's time to apply it in flavorings, such as ice cream, you will often find "melão" in the description, but the flavor is actually "meloa". Pet peeve alert!


For completion's sake, we call watermelon "melancia".

I used to buy a nice peach salsa, so really that doesn't seem too far out.
