President Trump To Strike Syria
#31
RE: President Trump To Strike Syria
Pentagon briefing this a.m. says allied aircraft and missiles were not successfully engaged by Syrian air defenses and that all allied missiles hit their targets. All allied aircraft returned safely to their bases. No Russian air defense systems were activated. Forty Syrian air defense missiles were launched only after the last allied missile hit its target.

Russia has called for a UN Security Council meeting to begin at 11:00 a.m. est. regarding the allied missile strike on Syria's chemical weapons facilities . NATO will also be meeting today.

BREAKING: NATO supports the United States, Great Britain, and France's strike against Syrian chemical weapons facilities.

In other news, Russia accuses Great Britain of staging gas attack in Syria that prompted allied missile strike.

Surprised about the French.  I thought they had more sense.

I doubt he had to do much convincing of the Brits. They were already pissed with Russia over the nerve agent assassination of one of their former spies on British soil.

The attack happened in my home town too. I've probably sat on the same park bench where they were found. It's kinda freaky.

At one point (probably several) the Syrian rebels were accused of gassing their own areas. They replied tf they had gas they'd use it on Assad's forces.

Might be why no one will give the rebels gas to use as a deterrent . . .

(WWII, pretty much everyone had it, and in that case, no one used it therefore. US infamously transported some to Italy, had an accidental release and the victims were all American)

...and especially when something of that magnitude happened in a part of your hometown that you're very familiar with.

Syria was a league of nation mandate to France at the end of WWI, and was effectively a French colony.  Despite france’s fall from global to a strictly regional power, and the fact that French rule is hardly remembered with fondness in much of her former colonies, France never gave up the pretention that she continue to have special interests privileges in areas over which she had once been the colonial master.

The French should get over it.

Is that the raid on Bari?

I had to do some work on that, an ex-british sailor claimed he had breathing difficulties due to it.

Just realised how long ago that must have been!!!

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Hmmm . . .

noted on POTUS (Sirius XM) was the lack of any Russian assets or personnel being hit, the Russians not firing a single shot in defense of anything in Syria, an extremely controlled and accurate target list, considerable evidence (lack of nearby chemical victims) the sarin and chlorine storage were cleared out beforehand, nothing targeted that would threaten Assad's government, and behind the scenes joy in Russia as to the relatively benign effects of the strike, and IMO, there's your smoking gun for Trump/Putin collusion.
