How bad was the pain when it started? How quickly did it get worse?

When it started it was about a 3 or 4. At its worst it was a 7-8. It got bad on Monday, so not long after it started.

Interesting. What sort of pains would you consider a 9 or 10?

The surgery was performed with a robot, which is cool, because I only have three small cuts on my abdomen, no external stitches (they glued me back together), and I was able to leave the hospital 4 hours after my surgery ended.

No questions, but a comment on the miracles of modern medicine. Dad, a retired Marine, had his appendix removed on a hospital ship off the coast of Korea in the spring of 1951. Nearly 70 years later the scar from the operation is still a huge Frankenstein looking abomination that looks like a navy corpsman removed dad's appendix with an entrenching tool.

We've come a long long way.

COOL!! Robot surgery!!! I think those are the coolest things ever. Do you remember being intubated or extubated? This is my biggest fear with surgery, strangely enough.

Here's a story for you all.

So on Sunday I started having pain in my lower right abdomen, and initially thought it was trapped gas. Monday it didn't get any better but was still manageable, though moving was painful at times. Tuesday morning I decide enough is enough and head to the urgent care center. They do some tests and order a CAT scan. I have to drink a lot of contrast fluid before my CAT scan, and when I'm 2/3 the way through, suddenly all the lights in the building go out. Seems that there was a car accident that took out power for the block. My doctor sends me to a nearby hospital to I'm fast-tracked to the CT machine because I already have the contrast in me. Results come back about 10 minutes later...I have appendicitis, so we head down to the ER and they arrange for the operation.

I finally had it this afternoon, my appendix is now gone. I also got to eat and drink for the first time in 48 hours.
