There's no evidence Rodman was the cause, but his optimism on the matter appears completely vindicated.

Rodman's visits to NK were happening way prior to 4 months ago. Fairly sure it was years ago he visited Kim. And in the times he was visiting, NK was just as vocal about their nuclear programme and just as hysterical with their threats of war.

I'd say that in fact, it's Trump sending head of CIA Mike Pompeo for a secret meeting that has had more of an effect than anything Dennis Rodman has done. SK president himself credits Trump for this.

Interesting to me that all of a sudden the denuclearisation of what is effectively a rogue state is not a big deal, seemingly because Trump was involved (in some way at least).

I wonder if Obama got the Nobel peace prize while bombing civilians in Iraq, will Trump get it for brokering peace in Korea? That's a joke btw.

I'm not really blaming this on Dennis Rodman.  But I do think our characterization of what he was doing/saying based on what's happening now, probably had him closer to reality than most of us arm chair foreign policy experts.  And it's also possible Rodman did have some impact on Un's behavior.

Trust me, I'm in no way thrilled at the idea Dennis Rodman might have had more global political insight than I did.  But sometimes you have to tip your cap to someone.

I saw this report this morning on MSNBC. I think that it is an important first step toward SE Asia peace but North Korea is worth keeping an eye on just to make sure that it isn't a trick.

For sure I'd agree with you on that. It's a bizarre timeline we're living in when Dennis Rodman and Donald Trump are major players in brokering peace!

Just out of interest what do you think the 'trick' would be?

Kim is doing what the Chinese told him to do.  They have two concerns in the area.  One, that Kim remains a thorn in the side of the US and Two that he tone it down right now because he went overboard and the WLB is as big a psycho as Kim.

Luckily for them, the WLB is easily fooled.

Whiny Little Bitch.  Bill Maher hung that title on Trump a couple of years ago.

It makes Trump look good, so no surprise. I posted stuff like this until I got a warning for trolling.

Getting the world's greatest negotiator to pull out all US troops and materiel out of Korea in return for no longer using a collapsed bunker to test nukes

That's the most likely result of the Trump talks.

Obama and the dems could have done this in their 8 years but they didn't it. It took Trump to finally end the that war.
If they wanted to win in 2016 he should have done that but now... Dems are laughing stock...
