I didn't know about the frequent and ambassador part. Thought he went to play I guess.

Did he make some kind of prediction?

He was going over there hanging out with Kim Jong Un trying to bridge the gap between east and west.  His visits were meant to solve the korea issue by opening a dialog and forging a personal relationship with the dictator.  People trashed him as crazy, reckless, and naive the whole time.  Now 4 months later, the korean war is over.  

There's no evidence Rodman was the cause, but his optimism on the matter appears completely vindicated.
