Oh, it won't. If this sub-forum goes live, you know it will be a great opportunity to call believers out on the uncivil behaviors that some of them often pass off as faith (you're going to hell, etc.). They'll have to behave as well as the atheists, if not better. When you consider they'll have more eyes on them, you have to wonder how soon the cries of persecution will set in.
Not sure I agree considering the way Neo has already felt emboldened, not to mention Alpha. It seems they've got it into their heads that as long as they're civil to the other participants in the thread, they can be as vile to any/everyone else as they like.
I really hope I'm wrong, but the precedent has been set, and at least one other gave it kudos.

If this thing happens, everyone will have to follow the rules. Theists and atheists alike.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Why the rules of this forum can't be followed now is beyond me. But since that's doesn't always happen, I won't be holding my breath for anyone to suddenly start doing so in a special section.

Well, I'll see what I can do. A lot is expected of a small staff here, so I guess I'm back to help.

Such section would make the rest of the forums "look like a joke"; in other words if you posted outside the "serious section" then you have posted a "shit post/ a not serious post".
That limits the precious freedom we have here in my opinion.
When you reverse my comment; you get the "Riyah" sub-section.
I disagree. People don't like like a joke if they don't use the Debate forum. This is just a slightly more relaxed Debate forum, it's for people to have serious discussions in a "civil" manner, without people coming in and either being jerks or taking the thread off-topic.
Also, I fail to see how creating a new forum limits your freedom. The rest of the forum stays the same as it was.

Were you drafted or did you volunteer?

I wonder how many hissy fits this will create?
(not Shell, the subforum)
(well..........)

A little bit of both. I made an off-hand comment that I would help if he needed it. I guess he needed it because I was drafted when the next round of staff additions came up.

I haven't seen the likely suspects in terms of hissy fits lately. I kind of expect some people to be irritated, but seriously, I'm just here to help keep up with reports, fix broken tags, etc. I intend to stay well clear of mod actions involving anyone who hates me. I don't need that shite.

Take A69 and the Adult Lounge sections for example: posting posts with explicit, adult content outside these sections will lead to a ban, so the existence of them did force a constraint on every member to behave outside these sections.
I assumed the same with the serious section but in reverse: some will not be serious except in the serious section, and posts outside it will not be taken seriously by some.
I hope I made sense

People were never allowed to post the type of material that area 69 allows on the regular forum. Nothing changed outside of it.
