I'd like to say that I find the idea of any group of people here having a "role" (besides the mods) rather creepy. Maybe it's more about how to conduct yourself on an atheist forum? Or a study of the behaviour of these creatures outside their natural habitat?

Seems to me that a thread like this would/could just turn into a place for passive-aggressiveness or whatever the opposite of that is; passive-showing off: "I am the greatest, nobody disagrees with me [because they can't], therefore it is true". I'm all for a good social experiment to   ...just so long as all participants know that whatever they assume the gagged atheists are thinking in response to reading a given statement... probably isn't what we actually are

What about having signup threads for a specific topic? Every day people vote for who is more uncivil and that person is removed from the thread?
Joking aside your idea of signups for serious topics doesn't sound bad at all to me, except for the lack of lynches :-P
