I think there are some deceptive people that actually believe in a God or gods and just don't like them that call themselves atheists.  May not be a lot but I think there are some out there.  It seems to obvious and some really smart people seem not to get it.

What we need to focus on most is in their minds, because existence of something outside of the natural order of reality can only reside in such an imaginative environment.

1- Some otherworldly king-like figure?
2- Some immaterial entity, but capable of interacting with the material world?
3- The philosopher's god, that which is a set of metaphysical properties, such as the property of existing, without which nothing can exist at all?


The way you speak, I'd wager number 1, with a hint at number 2.
But the most rational basis for the Christian religion lies in number 1... and, even that one requires the leap of logic where you have to assume that metaphysics is not a human construct.

I do believe all gods, other than the triune God of the Bible, are false gods.  I don't generally talk bad about them, I just think they are clearly false gods.

The prefix "crypto-" means "secret, hidden, closeted"...

example: "I bet a good number of Trump supporters are cryptofascists."

I doubt very many here are cryptotheists. But what do I know? I've only carried on lengthy conversations with them precisely on the topic of their beliefs. (Notice I said "their" beliefs. I didn't make any 500 page threads where I went on and on about my own beliefs.) I took the time to investigate their beliefs (or lack thereof) asking them questions when I was unclear on something.

I betcha there are some cryptoatheists out there You know?... folks who talk a big game about Jesus, but if they ever think about God on the way to see their underaged mistress, they're like, "Lol! That's just something I pretend to believe in at church... or when I want to discriminate against gays."

What's your opinion on cryptoatheists? Are they out there?
