Maybe something like ''Life Matters: A Place to discuss lifestyle, family and personal issues''

Might be wordy, but something like that? What do you think?

(And then, if someone wants to create their own thread for their own personal journal/diary/blog, that's where it would be posted. (as opposed to a delegated formal journal section)

Thanks!

Haha, way too wordy. How about Life Stories/Personal

lol! That's way better.  Big Grin

Not that AF should seek to mirror or parrot TTA, but they have a section I noticed over there called ''Personal Issues'' and it serves for posters to share issues about leaving religion, or losing weight, or going through a divorce, etc. While not in a journal/diary format, I think it's a cool section, and it seems to attract a lot of interest. Now, this section I'm talking about...wouldn't be about only ''issues,'' unless someone wanted advice/support on something. It would be a cross between that section on TTA, and just a fun section to share stuff happening in your life, that are positive...like you got a new job, or you're getting married, or you left faith...or went back to faith, etc. Just a catch all for all lifestyle/personal stories.

That's why atheist forums will be better, cause it'll be stories.

Both opening it and closing it if it doesn't work out constitutes extra work for an admin. I can't speak for all of the staff, but I like to limit that to things we're pretty damn sure will make the forum better. That's what discussing it like we are in this thread determines. Also, too many sections will really clutter up the forum. It makes forums look like shit, so it's good to be succinct. If you really think it will be a good idea, be patient and keep stating your case. This forum has never just been "Oh, good idea" and boom, there's a new sub-forum.

Yea, no worries - I was feeling in a creative mood, and thought I'd toss the idea out there.

Keep tossing. It's being tossed around by staff too.

I think it's a good method for creating a subforum. It reminds me of presenting a thesis to professors when I was a history student. You make your case and then the professors argue or question why it might not be true.

I recommended the sports/fitness section of the forums umpteen years ago, and people have literally lost weight and gotten healthier from it.

New section is up: https://atheistforums.org/forum-84.html

I've moved a few threads already, if people spot more that should be moved, please let me know.

RE: Blog section?
Perhaps the CIJS thread should be moved there as well, as it's a great thread for people to "vent" or post thoughts that would fall along the lines of blogging.

Just a thought.
