It's pessimistic. The idea is that the meaning of life is negative rather than completely absent. With nihilism it would be to say that life is completely meaningless but with pessimism it's to say that life is bad.

I'm glad my parents had me and that I exist. I think if 2 people have the means to raise a child properly and give them a good life, bringing children into the world is a good thing. Despite everything crappy that has happened/is happening, I still see the beauty in life and I'm very glad to have been given the opportunity to live.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I'm glad I'm not dying but I'm not glad I was born.

Why do you wish you didn't exist Ed?

Because of how much I will suffer in the future one day when I die or have the worst day of my life (which is probably yet to come).

And now we're getting into deep therapy territory that years and years of counseling doesn't help.

What about all the good things though. The joy and love you've experienced... aren't you glad you got the chance to live?

I had one year. Does that count? She said she was unable to offer more progress as it was beyond her scope. It wasn't about this though. It was about my abusive father.

So far I am, yeah. Like I said, I think the worst is yet to come.
I do, after all, believe this: "It is not only the ratio of pleasure to pain that determines the quality of a life, but also the sheer quantity of pain. Once a certain threshold of pain is passed, no amount of pleasure can compensate for it." - David Benetar
Bold added.
I'm not suicidal at all by the way. I enjoy the present moment. The bad shit may not happen until I'm on my deathbed with excruciating cancer. I bet when I am I will be thinking "Life wasn't worth this" though.
