What is your problem with Islam? Think about it

Apparently 20% of Muslims world wide believe it's good to kill non Muslims, for the mere fact of not being Muslim. That's just an extremely high number, and a very radical view.

But if you are otherwise a peaceful, normal Muslim, then I have no problem with you or with your faith at all.

But there are direct explicit verses from the Quran (the source book that all Muslim factions hold holly) that criminalize behaviors like this:

Quote:Sura 60, The Quran:
( 8 )   Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
( 9 )   Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

Another example from the same book:

Quote:Sura 7, The Quran:
( 55 )   Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors.
( 56 )   And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.

So you can understand why I seriously question the belief of extremists. What do they have to say about these verses? that is beyond me.
I think the problem is with exaggerated treatment -or bias, if I can say?- when it comes to dealing with Muslims; the media honestly speaks as if humanity didn't have 2 world wars, a nuclear blast and a hell load of mass shooting victims in the U.S .

I think that Muslims who didn't read the above verses need to seriously revise their faith, or stop taking Islam as a shield for their acts.

Why are you arguing with CL, when she just told you that she doesn't have a problem with Islam, but only with the radical elements within Islam?

And why is he ignoring my post where I accused him of being a 9/11 truther in order to ignore the very worst of his religion?

Oh well. I put his conspiracy theorist post in the Hall of Shame so that should do the trick. Hopefully. I put him on par with a holocaust denier if he's going to call 9/11 an inside job.

Same here but some religions are definitely worse than others.

I have one issue with all of them: They're all untrue.

But, extremist Jainism, for instance, is hardly on par with extremist Islam or Extremist Christianity. Some religions definitely cause more harm and do more damage than others.

Correct as far as it goes, but I wasn't asked my problems with extremists.

I think there's two types of religious people: honest extremist nutjobs and hypocritical cherrypicking moderates. Neither are particularly dignified but at least the hypocrites do less harm. Although it is rather depressing that those who most honestly follow their (un)holy texts end up doing the most harm (it's not surprising considering what's in the texts). It comes back to that thread you made ages ago about whether motive makes a different to morality.

I like what A.C. Grayling has to say on the matter. Specifically his final point that he makes 53 seconds into the following video:

In other words you're a conspiracy theorist.

The point is that Islamic extremists hijacked an American plane and flew it into a building and they claimed on multiple occasions that they were driven by their beliefs. They died for their beliefs.

My post wasn't speaking about "who is really responsible for 9/11 ? "
It was speaking about "the origins of the attackers".

You said that you hate Muslims because of 9/11, I replied to you with that "people who did the attacks" were trained and armed by the U.S in the first place; in other words "The White House reaped what it sowed", and you didn't know that because you were "too drunk on propaganda".

In other words; read real history.

No I didn't. You're contemptible for that false accusation that I "hate muslims" when I never once said any such thing. I hate Islam. I dislike all religions, some more than others. But I don't hate any religious people.

Quote: I replied to you with that "people who did the attacks" were trained and armed by the U.S in the first place; in other words "The White House reaped what it sowed",

Extremist Islamists attacked the twin towers. That's what I said.

Quote: and you didn't know that because you were "too drunk on propaganda".

No, you are drunk on Propaganda if you are attempting to argue against the fact that extremist Islamists attacked the twin towers. They were literally Islamic martyrs dying for their belief in Islamic Martyrdom.

Quote:In other words; read real history.

You read it. Islamists attacked the twin towers. That's well documented.

I understand that, and like I said, I have no problem with Islam that is practiced peacefully. But regardless of what the Quran does or does not say, it is still true that for whatever reason, there exists an exorbitant amount of very violent radicalism within Islam. You asked what my problem is with Islam, and that is my problem: the fact that 20% of Muslims believe it is good to kill people who are not Muslim, for the fact of not being Muslim. Any normal person should have a problem with that. Including you. Especially you. These people are doing horrible things and claiming it to be in the name of your faith. That should infuriate you. You should have a major problem with that, but instead you are upset at us. That makes no sense.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

When Muslims claim to practice Islam peacefully they aren't practicing Islam. Islam is not a religion of peace it's a religion of conquest, apostasy and martyrdom. Violence towards non-believers in Islam, and even more violence towards those who leave Islam, is throughout the Koran.

The main difference is that Muslims are the new kids on the block with the highest level of adherence to their faith, the Jews are mostly just "culturally jewish" not really following most of what is written in their books (with the exception of the jewish fundies in Israel).

The Christians have lost a lot of their steam, most barely knowing anything that is in their books.

Islam just happens to be in that crazy stage that all these other religions have already been through.

Islam will get ground down by reality just a surely as all the other religions will and have been.

But for today, right now, globally, they're doing the most damage to our species.

"most damage"?

I think that is very unfair. World War 2 -which claimed the life of almost 1000000 people- did not witness a single Muslim frontier; the hairy situation humanity is in now is because of the west and china, and their insane industrial cycle, atomic bombs are the real threat, and they are the specialty of non-Muslims.
