I thought Han was supposed to have outgrown that, though. And yeah, I understand that maybe adult Luke would be a bit different from young Luke, but not to the point where he'd murder a boy in his sleep because the boy might go to the dark side.

Well if the story is to be believed Han thought he had failed as a father and in sham went back to the only thing that gave him purpose .

And Luke's attempt at murdering Ben was a split second impulse . Much like the one he had against Vader on the second Death Star. And he admits he immediately regretted it. Luke may be Jedi master but he's still only human and it's not like he's the first or only Jedi to circum to a momentary lapse in judgement .

It wasn't split second. He decided, in his room, that he needed to go kill someone in his sleep that hadn't committed any crimes, went to his room, charged up his lightsaber, and held it while contemplating what he was about to do. Yeah, he changed his mind, but he actually considered doing it for way too long. And this is supposed to be a sympathetic good guy.

Kill a potential Sith Lord before he becomes a crisis for the galaxy? In a heart beat.

Or create a sith lord because you think he might be bad, and give him a good reason to turn bad. You can't just kill a person because they might do something bad in the future. That's murder. Coming from the dude who redeemed someone who was actually evil because he was family, it comes off as hypocritical.

No he didn't in The Last Jedi Luke explains he  only got the impulse to kill him standing over him after having a horrible vision off all the awful stuff he was going to do. Then on impulse tried to kill him but stopped himself and he only brought the lightsaber in case . Ben misinterpreted this and attacked .

That's is another point . Darkside users are not exactly known for their value of life .

Did you watch the one where Alderaan was destroyed, with population, because the Jedi failed to kill the Sith Lord, just one man?
